Barrett is currently in a relationship with her new boyfriend, Harley Solomon. Hossler, on the other hand, is currently dating Kylie Jenner’s best friend, Anastasia Karanikolaou or Stasia Karanikolaou.

Barrett starts the song with the lyrics, “He’s got a cross on his neck.” Hossler has a huge tattoo of a cross on his neck, but Solomon does not have any.
Similarly, the lyrics “He’s got lips like cherry wine, with cigarette smoke on his breath,” might indicate the smoking habit Hossler has. However, some fans noted that Solomon also smokes cigarettes, so the lyrics could be about anyone.
Moreover, there are a few other lyrics that have fans confused. For instance, “He’s got pretty long brown hair, green eyes that look like [expletive]” could indicate any of the men because both have brown hair and green eyes. However, Hossler’s eyes are bluish-green.
In the past, Barrett has referred to her ex-boyfriend as “Jesus” in her song, ‘I Wanna Die.’ So, netizens are arguing that the singer would not call her current boyfriend the same as she referred to her ex-boyfriend.
A netizen noted that the song is about Solomon and not Hossler. This was because Solomon allegedly claimed that ‘American Jesus’ was his favorite song on Instagram Live.

Hossler and Barrett were both in relationships before to their dating each other. Hossler was dating Mads Lewis, while Nessa was dating Josh Richards.
Everything was okay with the four until Hossler and Barrett started hanging out more while recording and promoting their single ‘La Di Die.’ Everything seemed off to Lewis, who accused Barrett of snatching Hossler from her.

On YouTube, Potter mostly created audio dramas of comic books on his Comicstorian account, regularly discussing the Marvel and DC Universes. He shared his last upload, titled “Why DC’s Reboots Beat Marvel,” just a day before his death.
