Butterworth is an English playwright, screenwriter, and director who was born in March 1969 in London. Together with John-Henry and Tom, his brothers, he has co-written screenplays.
The director has four siblings, three brothers, Tom, Steve, and John-Henry, and a sister named Joanna.
He went to St. Albans’ Verulam Comprehensive School and Cambridge’s St. John’s College. All the brothers have worked in theater and film. Tom and John-Henry are writers, while Steve is a producer.

Butterworth’s play Mojo, which premiered in 1995, won the 1996 Laurence Olivier, Evening Standard, The Writer’s Guild, the George Devine awards, and the Critic’s Circle Award.
The Ferryman by Butterworth premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in April 2017. It became the play with the quickest sales in the history of the Royal Court Theatre under Sam Mendes’ direction.

Laura Donnelly’s past relationship
In the late 1990s, Laura Donnelly began dating Nathan Connolly, an Irish musician who played guitar and sang backup for the well-known alternative rock band Snow Patrol.
Donnelly was quoted as saying that she could not spend her life with someone who did not have an artistic background and did not comprehend and respect her work during the course of their lengthy relationship.
Belfast Telegraph stated that Donnelly and Connolly dated at least until 2013. However, Donnelly disclosed that her relationship with Connolly was finished in a 2015 interview with Independent and suggested that she was seeing someone new, who also happened to be a writer.
