David Lascher and Christine Taylor had been rumored to be a couple after they began starring in Nickelodeon’s sitcom Hey Dude, which aired from July 14, 1989, to August 30, 1991.

And after more than 33 years since the comedy series first aired, it has been confirmed that Taylor and Lascher were indeed an item. Yes, you heard that correctly!

The truth has finally been revealed. The revelation came directly from the now-former love birds when they appeared on the Hey Dude… The 90’s Called! podcast on Monday, December 12, 2022.

During the mini-episode of the podcast, Lascher told Taylor that she was his first real love and “it was full of teen angst and all you can imagine.” “We get asked this all the time, and we’re like, ‘No, nobody dated,'” he added.

Shortly after, Taylor stated that Lascher was her second boyfriend, her first partner being her high school sweetheart. She continued, “And you were my second boyfriend. We didn’t own it at that point. Now I think we just have to own it.”

As the podcast episode continued, Taylor also revealed that Lascher’s wife, Jill London, encouraged both of them to go public about their former romance. Explaining what happened, the actress said;

“We talked about this last night. Jill was like, ‘You should talk about this, you should talk about the fact that you dated while you were shooting the show,’ which we’ve never talked about before.”

After hearing Taylor say that, Lascher confessed that he was very nervous to talk about revealing their teenage romance with Taylor because he didn’t know if she wanted to speak about it.

He said, “I was nervous to even ask you if you wanted to talk about it, but we are both happily married and we are adults.”

The former couple, who are still great friends, then looked back at their relationship and mentioned that they bonded over humor and laughter while working on the Nickelodeon show.

Lascher said, “We would just make fun of everything and everyone in a lighthearted way. We just laughed for two years straight.”

The New York native also recalled when the actors received a per diem and how he made savings and bought Taylor ruby necklaces in honor of her birthstone. “I was head over heels for you!” he justified his past actions.

After that, it was time for Taylor to give some insights into their former relationship. She said, “We were head over heels for each other. It was total infatuation for sure… he was my first love, and I was so infatuated with you and loved you so much.”

Similarly, Taylor said that she and Lascher got close and had a great time alongside each other but ultimately decided to break up.

Speaking on their split, she said, “I think it was the fact that we were working together and living together in this hotel, we were with each other 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and that’s not how young love thrives. You need space to be your own person.”

While the two did break up, they made several attempts to rekindle their love. Taylor recalled, “I remember we kept trying to find our way back to each other.” Sadly, they never got back together after their first-and-last split.

And although they weren’t together, they still had to work together on Hey Dude, a thing that wasn’t fun, per Taylor. In the same podcast, she also took the blame for the end of their relationship.

She mentioned that she was terrible, so non-confrontational, and “probably had no idea how to talk or deal with it. How great is it we can unpack it now?”

Lascher then consoled his former lover by saying he had no hard feelings for her after their split. He told her, “Everyone has that first love that crushes them at some point, even though it wasn’t intentional.”

As the podcast episode almost ended, both Lascher and Taylor consented that even though their romance didn’t work out for a long time, their friendship has since prevailed.

The 50-year-old actor said, “You and I had a friendship that was above and beyond anything else. I think the friendship was more important, looking back on it, right? We had such great times together that whatever went on outside of that was less important.”

Both David Lascher and Christine Taylor are happily married now

Since his secret split from Taylor, Lascher has been married twice. His first marriage was with now-former actress Jessica Watson. They shared the wedding vows on August 14, 1995, but divorced later, at an unknown date, due to undisclosed reasons.

Four years after his divorce from his first wife, on October 23, 1999, Lascher married his second wife, Jill London. Together, they share two children; a son named Casey Lascher and a daughter named Chelsea Lascher. The details about Lascher’s married life are scarce.

As for Taylor, she first started a dating relationship with her now-former boyfriend, Neil Patrick Harris. The twosome began dating in 1997 and ended their togetherness in 1998.

One year after her split from Harris, in 1999, she met Ben Stiller while working together on the TV pilot Heat Vision and Jack. And on May 13, 2000, she walked down the aisle to share the wedding vows with Stiller.

Following their marriage, the duo went on to work together in multiple movies and TV shows.

Years later, on April 9, 2002, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Ella Olivia Stiller. On July 10, 2005, Taylor gave birth to her second child, a son named Quinlin Dempsey Stiller.

As years passed, the family of four was living happily together under the same roof.

But things eventually began to change, and on May 26, 2017, Taylor and Stiller announced their separation. But despite their split, they were often spotted together, either alone or with their kids.

Finally, in February 2022, Stiller revealed that he and Taylor reconciled their relationship and moved back with her and their children during the pandemic.

Since then, the couple has made multiple public appearances, and their relationship looks stronger.

Perkins went public with her relationship with Robbins in New Year 2020 when she shared a picture with him on Instagram for the first time. Along with the post, she wrote, “Convinced this dude to bring in the new year with me. Happy New Year,” with black and firecracker emojis.

After seeing pictures of the then-new couple, one person commented, “You two are so cute together,” while another exclaimed, “OMG, so cute. I think I’m going to find one and convince him too.”

Since that day, the actress and her boyfriend have posted many pictures of themselves together. For instance, on November 24, 2021, Perkins posted a series of pictures with her boyfriend to commemorate his birthday.

She lovingly captioned her post, writing, “Bub turns 22. My best friend, my person, my everything! don’t know how we spend literally every day together and still have so much to say, always laughing, sometimes I’m crying but I have your shoulder to cry on. Love you so very much.”

Similarly, Robbins has sporadically graced his Instagram feed with endearing snapshots of himself and his girlfriend. For instance, on May 12, 2023, he marked their fourth dating anniversary by sharing a captivating series of images.

Alongside this collection, Robbins penned a tender caption that encapsulated their journey: “4 yrs, 1 wk & counting.” Following the post, his followers showered the post with affectionate comments.

One person wrote, “Wishing you both many joyous adventures ahead… eagerly awaiting to witness them,” while another admirer remarked, “Their bond radiates profound love… it’s genuinely heartening to behold,” punctuated with a heartfelt heart emoji.

Despite the multitude of pictures they’ve shared, the couple has chosen to keep their origin story – how they first crossed paths and embarked on their romantic journey – private and undisclosed.

Daniella Perkins’ dating history

According to reports, Perkins was in a couple of relationships before she began dating Robbins. Her first public relationship was with Zach Clayton in 2017. However, their romance hit a rough patch after a few months.

In September 2017, the actress and Zach made their breakup public, but Zach’s tweets hinted at the possibility of Perkins being involved in their split. Responding swiftly, Perkins took to her Instagram story to debunk the cheating rumors.

Likewise, in an exclusive conversation with J-14, the Suncoast actress expressed her belief in maintaining certain aspects of a relationship private to prevent unnecessary external involvement.

She also emphasized her life motto of staying positive and true to oneself, highlighting the importance of self-awareness amidst any drama that might arise. “Everyone breaks up – like it’s a thing that happens in life,” she said.

Perkins added, “It’s not like a huge thing, but being [on] the internet – things are going to happen, of course, if you have a following or something, it’s expected – especially being a public relationship. Things happen, and I’m busy with work now.”

However, the drama didn’t stop there; shortly after, the actress found herself embroiled in dating rumors with her co-star, Jace Norman. Speaking about their dating rumor, Jace expressed his surprise at the sudden attention, admitting that he is typically a low-key individual and had never experienced such a surge of public interest.

He also acknowledged that the experience was quite intriguing for him. Reflecting on the incident, he remarked, “I saw the power of social media negatively. I tried to move on. I tried not to reply. I tried to just let it blow over. It’s all good.”

“I was more concerned about Daniella ’cause she was the one who was getting accused of a lot of things. I was more focused on her because, for me, Zach was just going after and trying to get some attention. I was just trying to stay low-key and protect Dani,” Jace concluded.

Perkins embarked on her social media journey around 2015, initially gaining traction on Musical.ly, now known as TikTok, where she has amassed over 1.8 million followers. Simultaneously, her YouTube channel has flourished, boasting a substantial following of over 800 thousand subscribers.
