Thomas Petrou Details His Experience with Eczema Disease
Thomas Petrou has struggled with eczema throughout his life.
American social media personality Thomas Petrou has been candid about his ongoing struggle with Eczema for a significant period.
On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, Petrou shared an Instagram reel where he updated his viewers about his eczema condition. He explained that he had a rough night’s sleep and woke up with blood on his hands and nails.
He then pointed out that October is Eczema Awareness Month and decided to share more about his ongoing struggles with the disease.
The social media personality stated he has recently struggled with Eczema around his lips and chin. He explained that the issue worsens when his facial hair grows and also when he shaves those hairs.
Petrou further mentioned that he was almost free of Eczema on his hands and arms, but last night, he woke up with intense itching on his entire hand and arm.
He then went on to show his visible redness and patches on his arm to his viewers and mentioned that his skin had become thinner due to the condition. The internet personality ended the video by stating, “Many people go through this, but you can get through it.”
Following the post, many of Petrou’s fans and followers expressed their support through comments. One social media user wrote, “Right there with you. Hope you start to feel better!”
Similarly, another person shared their experience with the condition, saying, “I’ve been struggling with it all over my arms, and it’s embarrassing because people at school ask me what it is.”
However, this is not the first time the social media personality talked about his condition with Eczema. On April 2, 2023, he shared multiple pictures of his skin dealing with Eczema on Instagram.
In the caption accompanying the post, he expressed that he had been struggling with Eczema throughout his entire life, and it was his vast insecurity.

Petrou also revealed that as a child, he always wore long sleeves and pants, regardless of the weather, because he never wanted anyone to see how bad his skin was. However, as he grew older, he realized many people struggled with their skin and learned to embrace his condition.
Likewise, he once again took to Instagram to post a series of pictures of him and his hand on August 17, 2023. Alongside the post, he provided an update on his condition, mentioning that he was slowly healing from his illness.
He also offered some advice, saying, “I know a lot of you struggle with it too, I recommend showering anytime after you sweat and moisturize while your skin is still damp. Reduce stress and possibly cut out gluten/dairy/sugar if it causes your skin to flare up.”
Moreover, on August 31, 2023, the social media personality again shared an updated picture of his arm with the caption, “I built a sauna! Also, my Eczema is gradually improving.”

Despite struggling with eczema disease throughout his entire life, Petrou has successfully built his online career. He began posting videos on YouTube in 2015 and actively shares content on Instagram and TikTok.

Eczema is a prevalent skin condition characterized by red, itchy, and inflamed patches on the skin. There are several types of Eczema, such as Atopic dermatitis, Contact dermatitis, and Nummular Eczema, to name a few.
However, there is no exact cause of the disease, but it is reported that many have this condition because of genetic, environmental, and immune system factors.

Petrou has also addressed the common misconception of confusing dry skin with Eczema. In a TikTok video posted on September 23, 2023, he said, “A lot of people always meet me and they’re like, oh, I have Eczema, too. But they’re kind of just referring to dry skin.”
He clarified that Eczema is not contagious and typically results from an overactive immune system. Additionally, he shared that, in his case, it appears to have a genetic component, as his father, grandfather, and brother have also experienced the condition.
Nevertheless, there is no known cure for this condition; it can be effectively managed through proper skin care, trigger avoidance, and the use of prescribed medications under the guidance of a healthcare provider.
Ben Potter, known as YouTube star Comicstorian, has sadly passed away.
His wife, Nathalie, confirmed the news of his death at the age of 40 as she wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). Her message read, “Two days ago, on June 8th, my husband, Ben Potter, passed away in an unfortunate accident.”
“To many of you, he was Comicstorian, voicing stories from across multiple different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive individuals anyone could ask for. As a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, or even just a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine. He was someone who would listen and make time for his loved ones. He would do his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were okay. He was our rock and he’d reassure his loved ones whenever they needed it.”
She further added, “He was my world and I need time to be with friends and family. I have so many things I need to figure out but firstly, I need to grieve. I ask that you respect my privacy as well as everyone else’s. Right now my priority is preserving everything he’s built and I don’t have any plans beyond that.”
On YouTube, Potter mostly created audio dramas of comic books on his Comicstorian account, regularly discussing the Marvel and DC Universes. He shared his last upload, titled “Why DC’s Reboots Beat Marvel,” just a day before his death.
