Fans of American singer Nessa Barrett had once again speculated that her ex-boyfriend Jaden Hossler inspired her new song ‘Lie.’

When Barrett released a sneak peek of her new song ‘Lie,’ many of her fans focused on the song’s lyrics, potentially alluding to her past relationship with ex-boyfriend Hossler.

On June 22, 2023, the official page of The Tea Talk delighted fans by posting a teaser of Barrett’s newest song ‘Lie’ and the lyrics to the song.

The post’s caption explicitly declared that the singer had officially provided a sneak peek of her upcoming song, making the lyrics accessible to the public and generating further buzz around its release.

The caption on the official page of The Tea Talk added more excitement by revealing that Seth Lee would be returning to reprise his role as Nessa’s “lover” in the new song, a familiar face from the ‘American Jesus’ music video.

Additionally, according to Genius, the song revolves around a person reflecting on a past relationship, expressing a desire for their ex-lover to never experience true love with anyone else but them.

The caption concluded by prompting fans to share their thoughts and feelings regarding the teaser and lyrics, further igniting anticipation and encouraging engagement within the fan community.

In response to the post, a social media personality left a comment stating, “10000 about Jaden, I don’t care what you say.”

Likewise, another observant individual pointed out that Barrett’s jacket in the teaser photo featured the phrase “It’s you I welcome death with,” connecting it to their matching tattoos, implying a deep emotional connection between the singer and her ex-boyfriend.

Now that Barrett has finally released her highly anticipated song ‘Lie’ on June 23, 2023, it has received widespread acclaim and praise from many listeners.

Along with the positive reception, there have been voices pointing out that the song does not necessarily revolve around her ex-boyfriend. One person commented, “Why do people want to assume it’s Jaden when it’s not about him? People just want to put words into their mouths, but it’s wild how they immediately jump to that conclusion.”

Similarly, another individual expressed frustration, stating, “Why can’t people simply enjoy her new music without associating her with Jaden? Everything always has to be linked to him. It seems like people think she exists solely to make music about him. My goodness, let’s take a step back.”

Fans suspected Nessa Barrett’s song ‘American Jesus’ was about her ex-boyfriend.

Just like her newly released song ‘Lie,’ people also speculated that Barrett’s song ‘American Jesus’ was dedicated to her ex-boyfriend.

The speculation arose from the observation that a particular line in the lyrics, “He’s got lips cherry wine, with cigarette smoke on his breath,” seemed to allude to Hossler’s smoking habit, further fueling the connections drawn between the song and their past relationship.

Later, the singer dispelled the rumors surrounding ‘American Jesus’ about anyone by revealing through a tweet, “normalize writing songs about fantasies,” and expressed that she had not found her personal American Jesus yet.
