Who Is Colleen Hoover’s Husband? Inside Her Married Life

Colleen Hoover’s husband is the “best fictional book boyfriend ever.”

Colleen Hoover has been making a mark on the literary field. With books like It Ends with Us, Verity, Ugly Love, and November 9, she has made it to The New York Times Best Seller list multiple times.

Hoover usually explores romance alongside domestic abuse, mental health and abusive relationships, toxic masculinity, sexual assault, miscarriage, and infidelity —  something that is grabbing the attention of teenagers worldwide. Regardless, most of her books end on a good note, making people believe in love and happily ever after.

In fact, Colleen has had her “happily ever after” with her husband, Heath Hoover. Completely different from the books she writes, she shares a healthy married life with her spouse, children, and dogs.

Here is everything we know about Colleen and her family.

Colleen met her now-husband in 1996 when she was 16 years old. She explained her encounter in an Instagram post

Back then, a guy took her on a date to Taco Bell on a Saturday night. There, she saw another guy sitting all by himself and eating a Mexican Pizza.

It was none other than Heath. She thought to herself, “Wow, that dude must be really lonely because what teenager eats alone on a Saturday night?”

A few months later, she scored a date with Heath, and the rest is history. After dating for three years, the pair got married.

As of 2022, the couple has been together for 25 years and married for 22. On their 14th wedding anniversary, Colleen penned a list of her husband’s qualities that made him her perfect man.

She wrote in her blog, “It also got me to thinking about all the men I write about in my books, and how none of them are bad-boy alpha-males. They’re all good guys, and I think I write about the good guys because I’m married to one of the good guys.”

Some of the things she mentioned were him letting her sleep in while he drove the children to school every day, not complaining about work, making lunch every day, letting Colleen travel while he stayed home with the kids, making the bed, doing laundry, and many more.

The author also listed some things that made Heath a perfect dad, including  playing with the kids, helping them with homework, and “hug and kiss his boys every single day and tell them he loves them.”

Similarly, according to Colleen, Heath is fully supportive of her career. She wrote, “He would understand that writing books is a really weird job and sometimes I’m not all here mentally, even when I’m staring at him and nodding my head. And he would understand.”

Colleen wrote 22 points about her husband, her last point admiring Heath for never complaining, being selfless, and being good. She ended her blog by noting Heath as the best fictional book boyfriend.

She wrote, “Sounds like the best fictional book boyfriend ever, doesn’t it? It’s not. It’s my life, and he’s my husband, and every single day I wonder what I did right in life to get the very best one.”

Regardless of being with one another for almost three decades, it seems like Colleen and Heath’s love for each other has not diminished. The pair are still in love as they were in 1996 and are living their married life to the fullest with their three children — Cale, Beckham, and Levi  —  in Texas.
