Demi Burnett is an American TV personality who gained widespread fame after appearing in the 23rd season of The Bachelor. She then appeared in Bachelor in Paradise season six and The Bachelorette, respectively.

Burnett appeared on her bachelor colleagues Higgins and Laconetti’s podcast, Almost Famous, in March 2024. While talking, she revealed some private information about her dating life and relationship with her mother.
When asked about her current dating status, she mentioned she has been single for a long time and hasn’t been on a proper date in years. Continuing the conversation, she also revealed her journey into celibacy.
The reality star revealed she hasn’t had sex after she revealed her autism diagnosis and sobriety. She said, “I’ve been celibate for two years. I’m not having sex. Since I stopped drinking, I went back to my old high school ways of being a prude.”

Higgins and Laconetti then asked if the decision to be celibate was deliberate or if it just happened. She then explained her perspective on the act of sex, showing her discomfort with the idea of bodily fluids coming into contact.
Burnett was concerned about hygiene and said she was always wary of whether the other person had washed their hands or if she would need to request them to brush their teeth. She revealed her discomfort and anxiety associated with these make sexual activities not worth it.
However, she reveals she was not always this way and didn’t care about the stuff when she was younger. She said, “Whereas when I was younger, I didn’t care about all that stuff. Now that I’m not, I am very weird about all of that, and I can get turned off so easily because of the smell.”

After talking briefly about her love life and celibate lifestyle, Burnett was asked about her current relationship with her mother. While filming for The Bachelor, she revealed her mother, Tina Jean Jordan, was in prison for conspiracy to commit bank fraud.
Burnett replied, saying they have a great relationship and are besties now. She revealed her mother has been a massive help, especially with the behind-the-scenes adulting struggles.

Burnett’s got the cash, but handling stuff like paying bills on time? Not her strong suit. She revealed her mother has swooped in to help her with bill-paying.
She also revealed how her help has relieved her anxieties, and that’s been the biggest gift. Her mother helps her with no strings attached and expects nothing in return.

Burnett is known for sharing her struggles and disorders openly and also empowering others. In 2023, she revealed to the world about her drinking habits and how she’s been practicing sobriety since July 2021.
As per her Twitter status, she revealed she was addicted to drinking to self-medicate her anxiety and nervous system activations. The overwhelming nature of the world and fear of societal judgment made alcohol her coping mechanism.

However, she decided to end her relationship with alcohol on July 24, 2021. However, her decision turned into something more dangerous for her.
She experienced severe withdrawal symptoms and had to be rushed to the hospital due to seizures. Therefore, she warned everyone to seek medical help before making a significant change in lifestyle.
Burnett also took to Twitter to express her gratitude to her friend Natasha Parker, who rushed her to the hospital and informed her family and friends. Now, she has stayed two years without alcohol and has used other coping mechanisms to process the world around her more comfortably.
Her shocking revelations on the internet brought about many positive comments. Many also shared their struggles with alcohol withdrawals. One fan wrote, “Congrats Demi! My brother ran out of liquor and he decided not to get more and I witnessed the Seizure and put him on his side. We called the Hospital and he was there for at least 5 days. He is alcohol-free now and I thank God every day!”

On February 20, 2022, Burnett let the world know about being diagnosed with autism disorder through her Instagram account. She wrote, “I did a psychological evaluation and I’m autistic. There is a huge stigma when it comes to autism. I encourage you to be open-minded and accepting.”
She explained further about her diagnosis in an interview with PopSugar and also shared her vulnerabilities and transformative role in self-discovery and understanding her own identity. She also shared the misconceptions people have about autism and asked them not to react to it negatively.
