It is unknown when Morse started dating Andrea, but according to her essay, it looks like it was somewhere around 2011. On June 2, 2011, she made Andrea a birthday card and texted her that she had feelings for her.
At the time, she and Andrea had come off a period of not talking since it took Morse time to realize the feelings she had for Andrea. As a result, Andrea was hesitant to do anything about it.
The now-married woman insisted that she wanted to date casually and that their relationship was a secret. Andrea agreed, and the couple went to Cheesecake Factory. However, by the time Morse was back home, their relationship was exclusive.
She wrote, “By the time I was home, our relationship was exclusive, I had told people about it, and Andrea and I had said, “I love you” to each other. So much for casual dating. I think I don’t know exactly who I am, but you make me not care.”

The same month, Morse and Andrea realized how much they loved each other. Morse also came to understand herself and how she was gay.
At the time, the couple were at Andrea’s parents’ beach condo in Maryland. There, Andrea played a song by James Morrison and talked about how she felt about Morse.
The author wrote, “She says it describes the way she felt about me when I was confused. ‘I’m gonna stay, when you just wanna fight, when you’re closing your eyes ’cause you don’t wanna love me.’ I start to cry.”
The feelings that had haunted Morse resurfaced, and she realized that Andrea was with her no matter what. She trusted her partner and wrote, “I could tell her to stop texting me like I had done when I got scared, and she’d still be there. We haven’t been together for long but I’d marry you tomorrow if you asked me to.”
Fast forward to January 17, 2015, Andrea told her to dress up and wear something fancy to have a special date at home. Morse wore a short pink dress with a beige sweater, nude heels, and simple jewelry.
She did her makeup and spent the afternoon reading magazines while listening to her partner working in the kitchen. Andrea told her to give herself a manicure at home and even picked out a silver polish for her.
Soon, Morse realized that Andrea might propose to her. However, she pushed that thought aside since there were a lot of things they needed to discuss before getting married.
Andrea cooked her dinner, and after that, she asked Morse to dance. Morse noticed that her partner’s voice was shakier than usual. Morse was sure that Andrea was about to propose, and like her speculation, Andrea got down on one knee.

In the feature, Morse wrote, “She gets down on one knee, and pretends to tie her shoe. It’s so quick that I barely notice. Before I’ve processed it, she’s already reaching under the couch for a small, hidden box. She tells me that she thinks we are good together.”
“She tells me that she thinks we are good together. She opens the box. ‘I’m gay, and I’m grown up now, and I want to spend my life with you,’” she added.
After getting engaged, both Morse and Andrea were hesitant about getting married due to various reasons. Not because they did not love each other but because of what society would say.
Their relationship was not like other relationships, so when the United States Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, the couple were elated. As soon as the legalization happened on June 26, 2015, Andrea texted Morse, saying, “I’m ready if you are; now there’s no reason to wait.”
Morse got married to her partner at a private and quick ceremony on April 9, 2016. She wrote, “We aren’t going to exchange vows, and we don’t want people to clink their glasses all night to make us kiss. We have been kissing each other in the privacy of our home for almost five years and making and keeping promises to each other for even longer.”
As a result, they had a sweet and short wedding that was special to both of them. Since then, the couple have been together, and the rest is history.
