Lydia Night Considers Her Weight Gain a ‘Glow up’ amid Eating Disorder Recovery

Lydia Night recently got vulnerable with her fans and followers.
Night is active on social media and often posts videos and photos on TikTok and Instagram. Netizens noticed that she had undergone weight gain.
While some people supported it, many fat-shamed her. Night responded to one such comment that pointed out her weight gain and revealed that she had an eating disorder.
She made a TikTok video to the comment that read, “Lydia… put on some pounds I see.” Night addressed that the comment about her weight gain was put negatively but agreed that she had put on a few pounds.
She then said she was undergoing ED recovery and was proud of her weight gain. She noted that gaining a couple of pounds was better than being underweight, so she was happy regardless of negative comments about her weight gain.
Night then got vulnerable about her eating disorder and told the netizens that she understood the pain if others were going through the same. She said, “If you’re struggling with that, just know that I understand, and it’s hard.”
Her Eating disorder and ED recovery were the hardest things Night ever had to deal with, so she understood the pain others faced. Regardless, she was happy that she was recovering from it.
Along with weight gain, the singer noted that she gained a personality and social life. She said, “With gaining weight I also gained a social life, and energy and so much power and strength and that is so much more important.”
At last, she pointed out how the weight gain was not a glow down for her but a glow up. “So if you think, whoever said this, I had a glow down, I had a glow up,” she clarified.
Night reposted the video on The Regrettes’ Instagram and dueted the video on TikTok with a video of her twerking.
As soon as Night posted her videos, netizens supported her and thanked her for discussing such a vulnerable topic. They appreciated that she could relate to their eating disorder or ED recovery and thanked her for shedding light on a topic like this.
One fan commented, “I love you so much Lydia I’m so proud of you,” whereas the other wrote, “People need to shut up sometimes, so glad you talk about this!! Ily.”

This is the first time Night talked about her eating disorder. In the past, she never mentioned having the disorder or going through recovery.
On August 7, 2017, she wrote a piece on Medium titled, ‘Finding My Strength to Conquer Body Insecurity.’ There she talked about her body insecurities and how she always feared weight gain and counted the calories of the food she was consuming.
However, she mentioned that she did not have an eating disorder. “I do not have an eating disorder—and I have not ever had one. I’ve thought about what that would look like several times and considered it. I do not self-harm, which I have also thought about,” she wrote.
Therefore, it is unknown when Night discovered that she had an eating disorder.

His wife, Nathalie, confirmed the news of his death at the age of 40 as she wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). Her message read, “Two days ago, on June 8th, my husband, Ben Potter, passed away in an unfortunate accident.”

I ask that you respect my privacy as well as everyone else’s. Right now my priority is preserving everything he’s built and I don’t have any plans beyond that.”
On YouTube, Potter mostly created audio dramas of comic books on his Comicstorian account, regularly discussing the Marvel and DC Universes. He shared his last upload, titled “Why DC’s Reboots Beat Marvel,” just a day before his death.
