Demi Lovato Reveals Her ‘Daddy Issues’ Led Her to Date Older Men

American singer Demi Lovato recently spoke candidly about her past dating experiences, explaining that her inclination to date older men was primarily because of her daddy issue.
During her appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Lovato openly reflected on her earlier relationships with older men, describing them as gross.
The singer shared that she believes she once went through a phase where she found herself drawn to older individuals because of the unresolved issues stemming from her relationship with her father.
As Lovato reflected on her past relationships, she recognized that some of her partners had been more than a decade older than her at the time.
She candidly expressed her feelings, saying, “For me, I was a teenager, and so, to me, that’s unsettling. When you’re 50 or 60, that’s perfectly fine. Even a 30 or 40-year age gap isn’t inherently concerning.”
However, she had a firm belief that being in a relationship with someone significantly older during her formative years was detrimental to her personal development and could lead to a toxic dynamic.
The singer emphasized that she can now confidently say that her daddy issues are no longer a part of her inner struggles. She pointed to the evidence of this growth, highlighting that she is currently in a relationship with a partner of her age.

Nevertheless, when one Reddit user initiated a discussion about the interview, a significant number of people interpreted Lovato’s comments as a veiled reference to her ex-boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, who is 12 years her senior.
One individual shared their perspective, commenting, “The actress met her ex Wilmer Valderrama, 43, when she was 17 and he was 29. I knew this but every time I read about it it makes me nauseous. Good on her for realizing.”

On YouTube, Potter mostly created audio dramas of comic books on his Comicstorian account, regularly discussing the Marvel and DC Universes. He shared his last upload, titled “Why DC’s Reboots Beat Marvel,” just a day before his death.
