Ethan Slater is an American actor, singer, composer, and writer. He has been a part of several musicals. Moreover, he was famously honored with a Tony Award nomination and won a Drama Desk Award in 2018 for his role as Spongebob Squarepants in Spongebob Squarepants the Musical.
Some of his famous performances as a theatre actor include those directed by Barry Levinson, Bartlett Sher, Kathleen Marshall, John Tartaglia, and John Doyle.
Presently, Slater has been playing the role of Prince Herbert in Historian alongside the Broadway revival of Spamalot. He can be seen performing actively at the St. James Theatre.
If you’ve been a fan, details of Slater’s life, including his siblings, brother, family, and parents, will interest you quite a bit. Make sure to read till the end of this article to know more!
Are Christian Slater and Ethan Slater related?
Since both Ethan and Christian share the same last names, a lot of fans and followers of both actors have assumed them to be related. However, this is not the case.
While both the celebrities know each other, and to an extent even closely, they don’t have any familial relationship.
The older of the two has been active in the entertainment industry with his own set of films and television shows, while the younger Slater has been a big part of the theatrical world. They don’t share the same occupational background either.
The SpongeBob SquarePants actor had once shared a tweet posing with his much speculated “relative” with a caption, “Still don’t know if @ChristianSlater and I are related. But we are one step closer to finding out.” This was enough to clear the doubts of those wondering.
Who are Ethan Slater’s siblings and parents?
Slater was born on June 2, 1992, to Jay Slater and Ellen Goldmuntz. He was the couple’s third child. The American actor’s father worked as an employee at the Food and Drug Administration while his mother was a lawyer.
Since his father was of Jewish descent, he was sent to Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School. His family eventually moved to Silver Spring, Maryland.
At seven, the Wicked star’s life fell apart when his mother suddenly passed away. Losing his mother at a young age left him with limited memories. But, her loss and her presence in the initial parts of his life were enough to leave a big imprint on his life.
In August 2021, when he was discussing his concept album Edge of the World, he talked about how his writing was heavily influenced by the tragedy of his mother.
He describes, “When I was 7 years old, my mom died, and so that’s been a really big, formative thing in my life. She had left this huge imprint on me, even though I had so few memories. And that’s what happens to this character, Ben. He grows up not knowing his mom, being raised by a single dad, and yet the impact she has on his life and his life trajectory is immeasurable. So, those are the two inspirational elements that came together.”
Both his parents have played a big role in where he has come in his life. While Slater’s parents have never remained too secretive about their presence, this is not the case for his siblings.
The Wanderer singer has two older siblings. Likewise, there is no evidence that he has a sibling younger than himself. This is mostly because the actor has not been too open about his familial life as much as his career.
There had been several trolls on the internet who had trolled Slater and compared him with Frankie Grande. Many even assumed that Grande was the Lost on A Mountain in Maine actor’s brother.
But, this again proved to be false, given fans found similarities between the two. The speculations were almost unavoidable after the music composer and Ariana Grande’s dating rumors.
Funnily enough, Frankie and Ariana are siblings.
Ethan Slater’s Education and Career
Slater later graduated from Georgetown Day School in Washington, DC. Having discovered a newfound passion for acting, he also studied drama at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York.
He landed an internship at the Shakespeare workshop, which further helped him come in check with his passion. The now-actor also got a chance to audition through the apprenticeship in front of director Tina Landau.
Slater graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from Vassar in 2014.
The theater hero first got his theatrical gig in 2015 with the musical Claudio Quest, where he played the role of Luis at the New York Musical Theater Festival. This was the start of his journey as an actor. The play was directed by John Tartaglia and had been nominated for Best Individual Performance in the festival’s award nominations.
In his first year of acting, he became a part of many successful plays like Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally in the One-Year Lease Theater Company, Diner, Lightning Bugs in a Jar, and Evol. His most recent film was Wicked.
A musical that made him a household name not only among directors but not-so-surprisingly among children too was Kyle Jarrow’s musical SpongeBob SquarePants. He played the lead role in the show directed by Tina Landau at the Oriental Theater in Chicago.
This helped the actor be a part of several award nominations and wins, including nominations for Best Actor in a Musical in Tony Awards, while winning categories at the Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and the Theater World Award for Best Performance in a Broadway Debut in 2018.
The theater actor has been a part of several television shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Murphy Brown, Fosse/Verdon, Instinct, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, besides the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise.
Slater has also recorded his solo albums, namely Richmond Rewrites, Wanderer, and Life is Weird.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Star in Robert Eggers’ Next Film ‘Werwulf’
WERWULF is currently in pre-production, with more casting and plot details expected to be revealed soon.

After haunting audiences with Nosferatu, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is teaming up once again with director Robert Eggers. This time for a werewolf horror titled Werwulf. The film is already building buzz ahead of its Christmas Day 2026 release, and it may get even hotter with Nosferatu lead Lily-Rose Depp in talks to join the cast.
Eggers will direct from a script he co-wrote with Sjón, his collaborator on The Northman. With Focus Features backing the project, and Working Title producing, Werwulf looks to carry the eerie, mythic tone Eggers is known for — only now under the full moon.
Their last outing, Nosferatu, was a breakout hit, raking in $181 million worldwide and marking a massive return for stylized gothic horror. Taylor-Johnson played Friedrich Harding, a vampire skeptic, while Depp portrayed Ellen, the object of Count Orlok’s obsession.
With werewolves now in his sights, Eggers’ next nightmare seems poised to bite — and Taylor-Johnson is clearly ready to howl.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Roars Into Box Office Success

Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest installment in the dinosaur saga, has stomped its way to box office glory. Directed by Gareth Edwards and co-written by Jurassic Park veteran David Koepp, the film premiered on June 17 in London and hit U.S. theaters on July 2. It has already grossed over $334 million globally against a reported budget of $180 million.
This fresh reboot stars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali in leading roles, supported by Jonathan Bailey, Ed Skrein, and Rupert Friend. The film shifts slightly from the earlier World trilogy tone, leaning into sci-fi thrills and a suspenseful, character-driven story.
Critics have been split. While some praise the visual effects and performances, others say it doesn’t quite recapture the awe of Spielberg’s original. Still, many fans agree that Rebirth is a major improvement over the previous film, Dominion, and a step in the right direction for the franchise.
With its strong performance, Universal is now reportedly developing spin-offs and planning to expand the Jurassic universe further. After ten films and over three decades of dino-dominance, it seems audiences still aren’t done with the thrill of prehistoric adventure.

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Rolls Out Star‑Studded Cast

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially underway, and the cast lineup is as iconic as fans hoped. Meryl Streep returns as the icy editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, joined once again by Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci — reprising their roles nearly two decades after the 2006 original became a cultural classic.
But the sequel isn’t just about the old guard. It’s adding new faces to the high-fashion chaos, including Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and Bridgerton star Simone Ashley. Acclaimed actor and director Kenneth Branagh will also appear as Miranda’s husband — a character that’s expected to shake up the dynamics at Runway Magazine.
Plot details are still under wraps, but the film is scheduled to release on May 1, 2026. It’s expected to explore the evolving world of fashion media while diving deeper into Miranda’s personal life and Andy Sachs’ next chapter. Notably missing is Adrian Grenier, who played Andy’s boyfriend Nate in the original. Sources say his character won’t return for the sequel.
With a mix of nostalgia and fresh energy, The Devil Wears Prada 2 promises to deliver sharp dialogue, high fashion, and the kind of dramatic flair only Miranda Priestly can serve.
