Something not well between Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman

It’s not surprising that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are compared to each other, especially since Freeman also played a dwarf in the movie The Hobbit. Along with the fan’s comparison, there was a certain feud seen among the actors.

Mirror, in 2014, also reported that the two actors had a “toxic feud” on the set of the hit TV series Sherlock. According to the article, tensions rose between the two stars due to creative differences and egos. Freeman reportedly felt overshadowed by Cumberbatch’s popularity and the attention his character, Sherlock Holmes, was receiving.

According to the anonymous source, the two actors had a complicated working relationship and barely spoke to each other by the end of the show’s third season. It also suggested that Freeman’s dissatisfaction with the show’s direction may have contributed to his decision to leave after the fourth season.

Freeman, known for his role in The Office, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the overwhelming fan attention that comes with starring in Sherlock.“Being in that show, it is a mini-Beatles thing. People’s expectations, some of it’s not fun anymore,” he said.

In contrast, during an interview with The Telegraph in April 2018, Cumberbatch expressed his disagreement and criticized his co-star’s remarks. He noted, “I’m very grateful for the support, but that’s about it. It takes on its own thing. But that happens with every franchise or entity like this.”
