Dua Saleh Says They Enjoy Gay Things Despite Being Nonbinary

Dua Saleh is breaking all kinds of stereotypes!

Saleh, who identifies their gender as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, is a Sudanese-American singer and actor based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They immigrated to the USA from Sudan when they were young with their family.

The singer was talented from a young age. They started with writing poems and then began experimenting with music while attending Augsburg University.

They released their first demo in 2017 and then worked with local producer Psymun and began performing their music live, culminating in the release of their 2019 EP.

Their music has been classified as rap, pop, and R&B, but they have also been considered genre-defying. In addition to creating and recording music, Saleh has appeared in Minneapolis theater and is most recognized for their recurring role as Cal Bowman in the Netflix series Sex Education.

Their role of Bowman has been critically acclaimed — mainly because Saleh portrays themselves and their gender identity as non-binary via the character.

Dua Saleh and their gender

As said before, Saleh identifies their gender as non-binary. Even though they initially came out as nonbinary as a college sophomore, Saleh insists that they have “always been on gay [expletive].”

One early recollection of their growing queerness was when they were elected Vice President of their high school Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) —  something their mother was not delighted about. The singer told Them, “I think she found LGBT pamphlets from my GSA, so she put me in Dugsi, which is an Islamic school [in Minnesota].”

They claimed that it contributed to their Muslim identity even though they are not “religious in the institutional sense.” Saleh’s gender at birth is unknown, but alongside being non-binary, they identify as transgender as well.

They discussed LGBTQ representation and their experience growing up with Gay Times in September 2021. They noted that sex education in the USA was “pretty bad” and said, “When I was in high school, they rolled in a TV and had really cis-sexist, transphobic, and misogynistic understandings of sex and what the body does.”

There was no LGBTQ+ inclusive education, and the GSA club in their high school did try to educate people. They joined the club mainly to inform their peers and schoolmates.

They said, “The students would go in and educate people on LGBTQ+ identity, queerness, and other things, but my only experiences with LGBTQ+ identity or learning about that in high school was learning the workshop stuff so that I could go to different classes to teach the kids who are my age.”

Dua Saleh on representation and Hollywood

In the September 2021 interview with Gay Times, Saleh gave their opinion on Hollywood and the representation of LGBTQI+. They noted that they identified many things as non-binary, transgender, Black, Muslim, and so on.

The singer noted that different identities were stacked, and it was vital for them to see themselves reflected in the media. They could do so with the help of music.

They said, “I’m very grateful for all the work that I’ve done talking about my identities and expressing the importance of representation for non-binary people who share my identities. Shout out to music!”

Saleh then talked about inclusivity in Hollywood and the entertainment sector. They pointed out that Hollywood had a long way to go regarding representation.

A few shows like Sex Education and It’s A Sin are trying their best the representation and showcase love between a person and their partner. But there are still many people that distance themselves from it.

Saleh is aware of the changes that need to come. They noted, “There are avenues that are opening for that to happen. In order for it to be truly authentic, there need to be trans people in all of those respective jobs and being able to write, create, produce, direct, and be at the forefront of their own stories instead of being added on as an afterthought.”

They also pointed out that it would be “cool” to have a non-binary-specific category. They reasoned, “Because it’s an umbrella term, so many people would fall into that category.”

All in all, Saleh is happy with their gender identity, but a change in the industry is needed, nonetheless. They said, “There’s so much that I’ve gotten by being trans and being around trans and queer people, and that I’m very thankful for.”

Unfortunately, things didn’t work out between them, so the HGTV co-stars split in 2016 following a divorce in 2018, but El Moussa and Hall have remained dedicated co-parents to their children.

“The kids are the most important thing,” he said to PEOPLE in 2017. “If Mom and Dad can’t get along it affects the kids, so Mom and Dad better get along.”

Despite their divorce, they continued working together on Flip or Flop. “HGTV has offered Christina and my amazing support from the beginning, and we are anxious to get out there and flip many more properties for Flip or Flop,” the realtor told PEOPLE.

“It was a huge shock,” Heather mentioned to PEOPLE. “We just weren’t expecting this. We had just gone through IVF. We had embryos on ice. We had a plan. I think when you least expect it and there’s no stress in your life, the world just brought us what was meant to be. I’m so excited that it happened like this.”

Madi Monroe Seemingly Leaks Ex Boyfriend Nick Machat’s Text Messages

It has been months since Madi Monroe and Nick Machat break up. The two were together for almost a year before the two parted ways.

The break up was ugly since Machat had been cheating on Monroe, and the latter called him out. Initially, Monroe supported Machat and exposed other girls he had been with.

But after Monroe saw the DM and text messages leaks that were done by the girls Machat tried to hook up with, she called it quits. She is in a loving relationship with her current boyfriend, Matthew Rossi.

However, it seems like Machat is still not over Monroe as he constantly sends her DM and text messages. Monroe leaked all of them on TikTok and exposed her former boyfriend.

Madi Monroe leaks Nick Machat’s text messages

On January 13, 2023, Monroe took to TikTok to show the text messages Machat had sent her. She exposed him and revealed that he was still sending her DM after their break up.

The TikTok was a compilation of photos where the text messages alternated with a picture of Monroe. She wrote, “just keep loving” on her photos as well as the caption of the TikTok.

The first of the leaks showed Machat being fatphobic to Monroe. He asked her if she went shopping in the “xl section of amazon.”

He said her jeans looked like they were meant for a whale and asked her not to wear “fat people clothes.” Monroe told him not to be mean and that his words hurt her.

However, Machat did not care for her sentiments and continued to fat-shame her. In another DM, he slut-shamed her.

Monroe exposed another text message where she confessed how he scared her. She told him she wanted to sleep and was scared of him.

Machat, on the other hand, told her, “don’t do this to me.” In a Snapchat DM, he called her pathetic.

In the last text message, Machat brought up Cooper Noriega and called him a “bum friend.” Monroe told him she never wanted to see her again and asked him to leave.

Machat called it her loss and said she would end up dying like Noriega. Noriega was a friend of Monroe who was found dead in a parking lot in Burbank, California, on June 9, 2022.

Netizens took to TikTok and Instagram to call out Machat for his behavior. They called him toxic for not leaving Monroe alone even though she was in a happy relationship.

At the time of writing, Machat has not responded to his being exposed and leaks.

Zara Larsson’s Twitter Beef with Selena Gomez Stan Ronnie Explained

Zara Larsson has a massive stan for Harry. In 2018, a beef between Harry and Zara hater Ronnie got viral. Zara Larsson even reacted to the video.

As Zara’s new single ‘Can’t Tame Her’ is coming this month, the feud has resumed as Zara and Ronnie both reacted following Harry’s popularity after rapping in front of Lea Michele.

Who is Zara Larsson?

Zara was born on December 16, 1997, in Stockholm, Sweden, to Agnetha and Anders Larsson. Swedish singer-songwriter Zara is well-known for her electro-pop music. She has a younger sister, Hanna Larsson. Hanna and Zara grew up singing and performing together.

Zara was asked to enroll at Adolf Fredrik’s Music School but declined because she preferred to pursue a solo career rather than singing in a choir.

She hasn’t actually had any formal vocal training. She trained herself by listening to popular artists like Beyonce, whom she also considers her role model.

Zara joined the Swedish edition of the talent competition show Got Talent at the age of 10 in 2008. Thereafter, she signed a recording contract with the company TEN Music Group after achieving widespread popularity, and in 2013, her debut EP, named Introducing was released.

On October 1, 2014, her debut album, which featured 14 songs, including her biggest hit, ‘Uncover,’ was released. The songs ‘Carry You Home’ and ‘Rooftop’ were released after the album’s first single, ‘Bad Boys,’ on October 13, 2013.

Her second studio album, So Good, has reached the seventh position on the UK Albums Chart since its release in March 2017, with her singles ‘Uncover’ and ‘Lush Life’ being certified platinum by Universal Music Sweden.

How did the beef start?

A video went viral in around 2018 where two guys, Harry and Ronnie were seen arguing claiming themselves fans of Zara and Selena Gomez, respectively, while the former stood for Zara and called the singer a “Nigerian woman of color.”

Zara tweeted, sharing the same video with the caption, “This Nigerian woman agrees.”

Zara Larsson’s ongoing Twitter beef

Zara recently shared a picture of Harry from the viral clips with the caption, “Harry is a legend in my books.”

In response to her tweet, the Zara hater Ronnie wrote, “him being your only stan paid off  for him awww”

“After all these years, you can’t stop mentioning me?” My second stan, I fear,” Zara wrote back in response to Ronnie’s comment.

People, however, love the ongoing beef between Zara and Ronnie. One user said, “I love the Zara Larsson and Ronnie beef,” while another called Ronnie a “Twitter jobless misogynist.”

Similarly, another user went on to say, “Zara Larsson beefing with Ronnie before her single release that career is 6ft under”
