Amidst the news that TikTok might be banned in the United States, popular TikToker Charlie D’Amelio‘s reaction might have irked the fans in the wrong way.
D’Amelio is a 19-year-old internet personality who became the most followed personality on TikTok through her viral dance videos.
However, this internet personality has been dethroned from the first position after Khaby Lame took the spot. Nonetheless, due to her extreme popularity in TikTok, she has been able to make a stable career out of it, snagging major brand deals, appearing in shows, and more.
D’Amelio’s success is directly linked with the TikTok app. Therefore, many were a bit disappointed due to her reaction to the recent ban news.
Did Charlie D’Amelio turn her back on TikTok?
In an interview with Shopify’s D’Amelio Footwear Pop-Up, D’Amelio talked about the possible US ban. Her response was pretty positive, and she said that there are other apps if TikTok isn’t in the picture.
She also implied that the situation will be similar to Vine, who died back in the 2010s. She claimed that social media comes and goes, and there will always be new apps, new people, and exciting new trends.
After her response went around the internet, many were quick to criticize her for her nonchalant response. They were disappointed that she didn’t care much about the impact the TikTok ban would have on millions of people and small businesses.
They claimed that she completely turned her back on TikTok, the same app that got her the fame she has now. On a TikTok that discussed this matter, one fan wrote: “She actin like TikTok didn’t make her.”
Similarly, another fan wrote, “Charlie D’Amelio doesn’t care anymore since she isn’t number 1 anymore??.” D’Amelio might have meant well, but has been gaining a lot of negative reviews from people.
The D’Amelio family might not want TikTok to ban
Although Charlie gave a nonchalant response to the ban on TikTok, her father Marc D’Amelio has been speaking against the ban. In an interview with CNBC, he said, “I don’t want it banned, but it could happen, and if it does, we’re already planning accordingly.”
However, Marc also talked about the need for diversification and how their family had already anticipated this after what happened with Vine. During the interview, he also shoots words of praise for the platform stating there is no other algorithm like theirs that understands users’ interests better than others.
He said, “TikTok is like lightning in a bottle. It still speaks to me.” Through the interview, people understood the D’Amelio family’s stance in the current TikTok ban scenario.
Although the family does not want the platform to disappear, they are ready to embrace alternative social media accounts in the future.
How did Charlie D’Amelio get famous in TikTok?
D’Amelio started her TikTok account back in 2019, posting her first TikTok in July of that year. She started posting content daily and quickly realized the fame it brought her.
Within six months of posting content, she already had 5 million followers. Her content mostly comprised of creative dance routines that would make others follow the same routine under her videos.

After following the trends and getting famous, D’Amelio started becoming a trend herself. In November of 2020, she hit 100 million followers, and she was the first person to hit that milestone in the app.
D’Amelio and her sister also joined a group of famous TikTokers and named themselves Hype House. The group of famous TikTokers stayed in the same house and posted videos with each other, adding to each other’s fame.
The internet personality soon increased her followers to a maximum, becoming the most followed personality on TikTok. As per sources, her income from a single TikTok video amounts to $48,000, which is an incredible amount of money.
Stemming from her very popular TikTok career, D’Amelio was signed by the management company, Outshine Talent. She also got to perform alongside Bebe Rexha on the opening act for the Jonas Brothers in 2019.

She then extended her reach from TikTok to other social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram and posted content regularly. She also became the brand ambassador for Dunkin’ Donuts and has partnered with big brands like Abercrombie & Fitch and Simmons Bedding Company.
Thanks to her popularity on social media, D’Amelio has her docuseries named The D’Amelio Show, where she appeared alongside her famous family. She also appeared on the thirty-first season of Dancing with the Stars and won the title alongside Mark Ballas.
Why is TikTok getting banned in the US?
Lawmakers across the country have been concerned about China’s influence over TikTok. They are afraid that the company that handles the app, ByteDance can be forced by the Chinese government to hand over the data of US users.
TikTok has been assuring that the data of its US users are safe and shielded from its employees in China, but that hasn’t slowed down the concerns. In an investigation by the Wall Street Journal in January, they found that the data was unofficially being shared in China.
The US House of Representatives has now passed the bill providing ByteDance six months to sell the company or TikTok would be banned in the US. The bill is currently in the process to finalize after it clears the Senate and is signed by the president.
US President Joe Biden has publicly announced that he will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. This will give TikTok six months to give its decision before facing a ban.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Star in Robert Eggers’ Next Film ‘Werwulf’
WERWULF is currently in pre-production, with more casting and plot details expected to be revealed soon.

After haunting audiences with Nosferatu, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is teaming up once again with director Robert Eggers. This time for a werewolf horror titled Werwulf. The film is already building buzz ahead of its Christmas Day 2026 release, and it may get even hotter with Nosferatu lead Lily-Rose Depp in talks to join the cast.
Eggers will direct from a script he co-wrote with Sjón, his collaborator on The Northman. With Focus Features backing the project, and Working Title producing, Werwulf looks to carry the eerie, mythic tone Eggers is known for — only now under the full moon.
Their last outing, Nosferatu, was a breakout hit, raking in $181 million worldwide and marking a massive return for stylized gothic horror. Taylor-Johnson played Friedrich Harding, a vampire skeptic, while Depp portrayed Ellen, the object of Count Orlok’s obsession.
With werewolves now in his sights, Eggers’ next nightmare seems poised to bite — and Taylor-Johnson is clearly ready to howl.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Roars Into Box Office Success

Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest installment in the dinosaur saga, has stomped its way to box office glory. Directed by Gareth Edwards and co-written by Jurassic Park veteran David Koepp, the film premiered on June 17 in London and hit U.S. theaters on July 2. It has already grossed over $334 million globally against a reported budget of $180 million.
This fresh reboot stars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali in leading roles, supported by Jonathan Bailey, Ed Skrein, and Rupert Friend. The film shifts slightly from the earlier World trilogy tone, leaning into sci-fi thrills and a suspenseful, character-driven story.
Critics have been split. While some praise the visual effects and performances, others say it doesn’t quite recapture the awe of Spielberg’s original. Still, many fans agree that Rebirth is a major improvement over the previous film, Dominion, and a step in the right direction for the franchise.
With its strong performance, Universal is now reportedly developing spin-offs and planning to expand the Jurassic universe further. After ten films and over three decades of dino-dominance, it seems audiences still aren’t done with the thrill of prehistoric adventure.

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Rolls Out Star‑Studded Cast

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially underway, and the cast lineup is as iconic as fans hoped. Meryl Streep returns as the icy editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, joined once again by Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci — reprising their roles nearly two decades after the 2006 original became a cultural classic.
But the sequel isn’t just about the old guard. It’s adding new faces to the high-fashion chaos, including Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and Bridgerton star Simone Ashley. Acclaimed actor and director Kenneth Branagh will also appear as Miranda’s husband — a character that’s expected to shake up the dynamics at Runway Magazine.
Plot details are still under wraps, but the film is scheduled to release on May 1, 2026. It’s expected to explore the evolving world of fashion media while diving deeper into Miranda’s personal life and Andy Sachs’ next chapter. Notably missing is Adrian Grenier, who played Andy’s boyfriend Nate in the original. Sources say his character won’t return for the sequel.
With a mix of nostalgia and fresh energy, The Devil Wears Prada 2 promises to deliver sharp dialogue, high fashion, and the kind of dramatic flair only Miranda Priestly can serve.
