Building Off the Grid is one of the most exciting shows on Discovery Channel.
The show revolves around families who “move off the grid every year in search of better living.” They do so while building perfect “off-the-grid” homes for themselves and their family to live away from the city.
Hundreds of families have opted for this over the years, with Discovery showing only a few of them via Building Off the Grid. The show has had 12 seasons, with a possibility of Season 13.
Here is all we know about the show and its future.
About ‘Building Off the Grid’
Off-the-grid is a design feature of buildings and a lifestyle that is self-sufficient and does not rely on one or more public services.
The term “off-the-grid” generally refers to not being linked to the electrical grid, but it may also relate to other services such as water, gas, and sewer systems, and it can range from single-family houses to small cities.
Off-the-grid living allows structures and individuals to be self-sufficient, which is useful in remote areas where standard utilities are inaccessible and appealing to those who wish to lessen their environmental impact and expense of living.
Building Off the Grid is all about this.
The premise of the program centers around people or families building homes and other structures in distant, off-the-grid locales without access to typical services like power, water, or sewage systems.
The show’s major focus is on the construction process, the problems that the builders confront, and the innovative and sustainable ways they use to produce their one-of-a-kind homes.
It focuses on self-sufficiency and sustainability. To address their energy demands, the builders on the show frequently use alternative energy sources such as solar panels, wind turbines, and hydroelectric generators.
The show features a variety of interesting and imaginative constructions, such as cabins, treehouses, miniature homes, and more. Each project shows the builders’ particular style and preferences.
The show frequently dives into the motives of the people or families doing these off-grid construction projects. Their origins, goals, and motivations for living off the grid are fascinating and something that has kept the show alive for 12 seasons.
Overall, Building Off the Grid blends aspects of adventure, do-it-yourself building, and sustainable living, making it appealing to a diverse audience interested in these issues.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Star in Robert Eggers’ Next Film ‘Werwulf’
WERWULF is currently in pre-production, with more casting and plot details expected to be revealed soon.
After haunting audiences with Nosferatu, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is teaming up once again with director Robert Eggers. This time for a werewolf horror titled Werwulf. The film is already building buzz ahead of its Christmas Day 2026 release, and it may get even hotter with Nosferatu lead Lily-Rose Depp in talks to join the cast.
Eggers will direct from a script he co-wrote with Sjón, his collaborator on The Northman. With Focus Features backing the project, and Working Title producing, Werwulf looks to carry the eerie, mythic tone Eggers is known for — only now under the full moon.
Their last outing, Nosferatu, was a breakout hit, raking in $181 million worldwide and marking a massive return for stylized gothic horror. Taylor-Johnson played Friedrich Harding, a vampire skeptic, while Depp portrayed Ellen, the object of Count Orlok’s obsession.
With werewolves now in his sights, Eggers’ next nightmare seems poised to bite — and Taylor-Johnson is clearly ready to howl.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Roars Into Box Office Success
Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest installment in the dinosaur saga, has stomped its way to box office glory. Directed by Gareth Edwards and co-written by Jurassic Park veteran David Koepp, the film premiered on June 17 in London and hit U.S. theaters on July 2. It has already grossed over $334 million globally against a reported budget of $180 million.
This fresh reboot stars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali in leading roles, supported by Jonathan Bailey, Ed Skrein, and Rupert Friend. The film shifts slightly from the earlier World trilogy tone, leaning into sci-fi thrills and a suspenseful, character-driven story.
Critics have been split. While some praise the visual effects and performances, others say it doesn’t quite recapture the awe of Spielberg’s original. Still, many fans agree that Rebirth is a major improvement over the previous film, Dominion, and a step in the right direction for the franchise.
With its strong performance, Universal is now reportedly developing spin-offs and planning to expand the Jurassic universe further. After ten films and over three decades of dino-dominance, it seems audiences still aren’t done with the thrill of prehistoric adventure.
