The diva who flaunts 90’s fashion as it’d never gone, Madison Martina’s love for fashion and modeling started when she was a little girl. Today, she is a famed fashion and swimsuit model, influencer, and blogger.

The Orlando native, in her early 20s, might still be young but holds a plethora of modeling experiences, having collaborated with fashion giants like Chanel, Guess, and TooFaced Cosmetics. But, it does not end there, as she sits right on top when it comes to influencing aspiring models through social media.

Martina treats her Instagram family of over 211,000 followers with regular fashion updates that include recent trends and ideas inspired from the 90’s. Just last month, on August 16, the University of Central Florida alum made a fashion statement when she dropped a couple of snaps spotting Jaded London’s ‘Spacedye Knit Crop Top with Matching Sleeves.’

In an exclusive interview with Glamour Buff, Martina talks about her humble beginning, supportive parents, and everything in between, including why she believes the 90’s inspired fashion is a big trend for the fall.

Yes, everything eventually comes back and a lot of fun 90’s fashion trends are coming back– Bucket hats, forearm/hand covers, velvet and velour!

You began modeling at an early age. How did that influence your love for fashion and modeling? When did it begin?

I began modeling at the age of 12 in Orlando, FL, and it was something I really enjoyed because it gave me access to meeting new people and working with all kinds of stylish fashion trends. Getting that early start in the fashion modeling world helped lay my foundation for loving and having a true passion for fashion and modeling.

What was your first modeling stint?

My first modeling gig was for a TV show called The Daily Buzz, and I was a fashion model highlighting different clothes and outfits…I was 10 years old and have loved fashion and modeling ever since!

Any memories from that first event? We would love to know that.

I just remember being a part of a show and wearing fun, new outfits was something that brought me joy, and I knew I could see myself doing this for the long term as a career if I was granted the opportunity.

Well, dreaming about getting into the fashion world might have come easy, but how did your parents, family think about that? Were they supportive?

My mom has always been so supportive and guided me on my modeling career journey since I was a little girl. She is my world and is the most amazing person I know.

Growing up watching her manage raising myself and my five siblings is something I will always appreciate and be grateful for. My mom is my biggest inspiration and without her, I am not sure where or who I would be. I have been lucky that she has always been so loving and supportive. My mom has the biggest heart and sweetest soul and that has been a guiding force throughout my entire fashion career.

The fashion industry is quite competitive and my mom has always been there for me through the ups and downs and has encouraged me every step of the way. I believe that having a solid support system is essential to making it in this industry. Everyone on my team calls her my momager and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

You have built a solid career for yourself, with numerous fashion shows, sponsors, events, thousands of Instagram followers, and all. Are you consciously looking to inspire younger generations?

Being a role model seems like a lot of pressure as I am a human being that is constantly learning new things about myself, life and the fashion world, but if I can help provide some positive inspiration for other younger models looking to pursue this as a career, that is awesome. Hard work, passion, dedication and commitment are aspects of my fashion modeling career that I hope little girls and boys will hopefully gather from my career.

In one of your Instagram posts, we also spotted you wearing hand/forearm covers by Jaded London. Can you talk about that?

Jaded London is a great brand that I have been fortunate enough to work with and they have a lot of fun, American 90’s themed styles that are becoming trendy again. I absolutely love the matching set I wore with the hard/forearms colors and would encourage everyone to check them out online.

Do you believe the 90’s inspired fashion is a big trend for the fall?

Yes, everything eventually comes back and a lot of fun 90’s fashion trends are coming back– Bucket hats, forearm/hand covers, velvet and velour! Fashion is supposed to be fun and inspiring so I encourage everyone to partake in it!

Any suggestions for aspiring fashion models?

My biggest advice for other models entering the fashion industry is to network a bunch, never give up, have faith and strong confidence in yourself and trust the process. Listen to your gut! It won’t be easy and you will face rejection many times– It’s just a part of the business that you’re in and it’s important to acknowledge and accept that early on. I want everyone to know that just about everyone starts at the bottom and with hard work and persistence, can achieve their goals.

I also believe it’s important to have people around you that are lifting you up, encouraging you, and protecting you at all times. Building a loyal, trustworthy, and hard-working team that encompasses the same positive mindset and morals is really a big key to succeeding in the fashion and influencer arenas. I got lucky because of the support I get from my family. It can be really hard finding the right people, but just know they are out there.

Thank you for sharing your story, Martina. Your life, your story is definitely inspiring! Hope it finds the right ears and helps someone trying their hands as a model.

Unique Necklaces for Bridesmaids

Unique Necklaces for Bridesmaids

The necklace you select for your bridesmaids serves as a sweet but weighty reminder of them by your side on your special day. The task can, of course, be an overwhelming experience. There’s a wide selection of styles, materials, and designs that may clash with your wedding theme. Not to mention, you must tip-toe delicately around each of your bridesmaids’ personalities and tastes. How do you decide on the perfect necklace? We have some tips for you.

Here are some ideas for unique necklaces for your girls.

Personalized Name Necklaces

A personalized name necklace is one of the best gifts that you can buy someone. Usually, personalized necklaces will have a nameplate or a charm with initials, which will be customized with bridesmaid’s names or initials etched into them. Personalized name necklaces are a great gift for any woman and are usually crafted from precious metals such as gold or silver.

Some necklaces are personalized with messages written on the bridesmaids pendants or charms or even have birthstones to make them extra personal.

Birthstone Necklaces

Birthstones make a classic and sentimental bridesmaid gift. You assign each month of the year a birthstone reflective of the qualities and meaning of the month. If you gift each of your bridesmaids a birthstone necklace, you celebrate their birthdays and give a thoughtful gift that represents them beyond the day of the wedding.

When it comes to birthstone necklaces, you will find designs from modern, minimalist settings to vintage-inspired pieces, providing an abundance of options to match your bridesmaids’ personal styles.

Locket Necklaces

Locket necklaces are classic, nostalgic, and sentimental little gifts. The small window in the piece of jewelry can accommodate a tiny photo or even a tiny little keepsake, and it will hold memories of your special day. Having each locket custom-engraved or finding one with a design to match your wedding’s theme is the perfect extra touch.

Whether your style is vintage glamour or modern chic, there’s a locket necklace to suit you. The bridesmaids will definitely thank you for this practical, beautiful gift.

Statement Necklaces

If your bridesmaids are looking to make a statement with their fashion, then a statement diamond necklace for women is a great way to do it. These are large necklaces with lots of texture and detail, often with large gemstones or pearls. They are perfect for adding a little color or a focal point to a simple bridesmaid dress.

Choose a necklace that matches your wedding theme, whether it’s boho, glam, or rustic chic. Your bridesmaids will feel like they are walking the runway on your wedding day.

Matching Sets

If you prefer to keep the look more unified, consider necklace sets for your bridesmaids. Earrings, bracelets, or rings are often included in these sets and designed to be worn together. Make sure you choose a style that matches your wedding’s color palette or theme.

Matching sets allow each bridesmaid to feel equally special while still achieving a unified look. They are also practical gifts that your friends and family can wear for years afterward and a nice reminder of the special day.

Parting Thoughts

Adding quirky accessories such as different necklaces for your bridesmaids will add a special touch to your wedding, emphasize the importance of their roles, and create special memories.

Whether they are personalized name necklaces, matching sets, birthstone pieces, locket necklaces, or statement necklaces, the key is choosing unique accessories, highlighting each bridesmaid’s individuality, and elevating the beauty of your special day.

Understanding The Top 5 Differences Between Gel And Acrylic Nails

Understanding The Top 5 Differences Between Gel And Acrylic Nails

If you love having beautifully manicured nails but can’t find the time for weekly salon visits, switching to gel or acrylic nails may be a better option. Both methods provide longer-lasting results than a traditional manicure. Deciding between gel polish or acrylic powder is mostly a matter of preference. Read up on the distinguishing features of each to determine which hits the “nail” on the head.

Cured by UV Light or Air

Get ready to enjoy some self-care because both gel and acrylic manicures are time-consuming. A standard soft manicure takes about 45 minutes while hard gels or acrylics can take up to two hours. Both manicures require thorough prepping, including polish removal, filing and buffing, and cuticle treatment. Filing is more intense with acrylics to allow the paste to bond with the nail.

Gel polish is applied using a base coat, polish and a top coat. Each layer cures under a UV light for one to two minutes. Once the last coat cures, you’re left with perfectly dry nails. No need to worry about smudging! By contrast, acrylic starts to harden from exposure to the air. You’ll need to wait 15-30 minutes for the last coat to dry.

Achieving Your Desired Look

Acrylics give you endless style possibilities. Technicians use an acrylic powder and liquid set to create a paste that can be molded into different lengths and shapes. This is especially helpful if your nails take time to grow.

Gel nails tend to look more natural than acrylic nails and offer a glossy, put-together look for any occasion. Both types of manicures need to be applied by a skilled technician for optimal results.

How Long Your New Nails Should Last

The multilayer application process for gel and acrylic manicures allows you to enjoy chip-free nails for up to several weeks. You’ll start to notice nail growth before that so scheduling appointments every two to three weeks will help your nails maintain their fresh appearance. Extend the longevity even further by wearing gloves when doing chores and filing only when needed.

To Acetone or Not To Acetone

Proper removal is necessary to prevent damage to your nails. Using acetone is one of the most effective removal techniques. For acrylics, the manicurist soaks your nails in pure acetone for 20 to 30 minutes, then gently removes any remaining acrylic with a special tool.

Gel polish can also be removed with acetone. Typically a cotton ball soaked in acetone is placed on each nail and wrapped in foil for about 15 minutes. The rest can then be buffed off. If you’d rather not use acetone, you can simply grow out your nails. Clip them periodically until the polish is gone.

The Impact on Your Natural Nails

Persistent acrylic or hard gel use can weaken your natural nails. Soft gels are more flexible and therefore, less damaging.

UV drying lamps used for gel manicures emit UV rays. Apply sunscreen before your service to help protect your skin.Whether you like the boldness of an acrylic set or prefer the more natural look of a gel nail, make sure to choose a reputable salon for your manicure. A little research can help you find a location with well-trained technicians who use only the highest quality products. You and your nails deserve it!

10 Tips to Revamp Your Wardrobe

10 Tips to Revamp Your Wardrobe

Revamping your wardrobe can feel like a daunting task, but with a few strategic steps, you can transform your closet into a collection that reflects your style and meets your needs. Here are ten tips to help you get started:

1. Declutter First

Start by going through your wardrobe and removing items you no longer wear or need. Donate, sell, or recycle these pieces to make space for new additions. A clean slate will give you a better idea of what you actually have and what you need.

2. Identify Your Style

Take time to understand your personal style. Browse fashion magazines, follow style influencers, and create a mood board of looks you love. Knowing what you like will help you make more intentional choices when shopping and ensure your wardrobe reflects your personality.

3. Invest in Basics

Ensure you have a collection of high-quality basics that can be mixed and matched. Items like a classic white shirt, well-fitted jeans, and a versatile blazer are essential. These pieces form the foundation of your wardrobe and can be dressed up or down for various occasions.

4. Incorporate Statement Pieces

While basics are crucial, don’t shy away from statement pieces. These are items that stand out and can make a simple outfit pop. Think bold patterns, bright colors, or unique accessories. Statement pieces add personality and flair to your wardrobe.

5. Focus on Fit

No matter how stylish an item is, if it doesn’t fit well, it won’t look good. Pay attention to how clothes fit your body, and don’t hesitate to get items tailored. A perfect fit can make even the simplest outfit look polished and sophisticated.

6. Mix and Match

Learn to mix and match your clothing to create different looks. This not only makes your wardrobe more versatile but also ensures you get the most out of every piece. Experiment with different combinations to discover new outfits from what you already own.

7. Accessorize

Accessories can completely change the look of an outfit. Invest in a variety of accessories such as scarves, belts, ladies sun hats, and jewelry. They can add interest and detail to your outfits without requiring a major wardrobe overhaul.

8. Stay Organized

An organized wardrobe makes it easier to see what you have and can inspire new outfit combinations. Use storage solutions like shelves, bins, and hangers to keep everything in its place. Regularly reorganize to maintain this order.

9. Shop Smart

When adding new pieces to your wardrobe, shop smart. Look for quality over quantity and consider how new items will fit with what you already own. Shopping during sales or at second-hand stores can also save money while still allowing you to find unique items.

10. Budget for Upgrades

Revamping your wardrobe doesn’t have to be expensive. Set a budget for yourself and prioritize the pieces you need most. If you need financial assistance, consider options like bad credit loans. These can provide the funds needed to invest in quality pieces that will last for years.

Revamping your wardrobe can be a fun and rewarding process. By following these tips, you can create a collection of clothing that you love to wear and that truly represents your style. Happy wardrobe revamping!
