Hunter Schafer Became Transwoman during Her Freshman Year of High School
Hunter Schafer came out as gay before transitioning to female.
In an interview with WUNC in 2016, Hunter Schafer, along with her parents, Katy Schafer and Mac Schafer, openly discussed her journey of transitioning to female during her freshman year of high school.
When asked about when she first realized she didn’t identify as a boy, Hunter revealed a persistent need for femininity that had been with her since childhood.
Her mother, Katy, recalled observations dating back to age two when Hunter expressed a preference for Catwoman and Hawkgirl over traditional superhero figures.
Even in preschool, Hunter’s inclination towards pink dresses instead of typical boys’ attire raised questions, prompting Katy to seek guidance from a teacher.
Katy said, “We made a point to see a preschool teacher when Hunter was three… I remember asking her “Is this ‘normal’ that our kid comes to school every day and puts on a pink dress, when all the other little boys have on plaid vests and fireman coats?” And that was not what our kid did.”

During the interview, Hunter recounted coming out as gay in seventh grade, further prompting her to explore what set her apart.
In eighth grade, her anxiety heightened as she began noticing physical changes associated with puberty, particularly facial hair, which triggered a deep discomfort known as gender dysphoria.

As Hunter grappled with these feelings, she encountered open-minded individuals educated in LGBT terms. Positive representations in media, such as characters Curt and Blaine on Glee, played a crucial role in shaping her understanding of transgender identities.
It was during her seventh grade year period that Hunter came to terms with the idea that she might not be a boy, stating, “And so it was in seventh grade that I came to terms with the idea that maybe I wasn’t a boy.”

During the same interview, Katy and Mac, the parents of Hunter, shared their reactions and journey regarding Hunter’s coming out and transition.
Katy expressed an undeniable love for her child, emphasizing that the family was supportive from the start. However, her confusion surfaced when faced with the challenges Hunter encountered in buying clothing that aligned with her gender identity.
Katy questioned society’s persisting difficulties in providing accessible and inclusive options for individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Mac, Hunter’s father, revealed that coming to terms with Hunter’s transgender identity was more challenging for him than her being gay. He grappled with the realization that Hunter’s transition would not only be an internal expression but would also reshape her external appearance.
Katy acknowledged that despite Hunter’s earlier attempts to share her truth, it took until the third time for the message to resonate fully with her and Mac.
The turning point came when the visible anxiety and struggle within Hunter became undeniable, reaching a crisis point that prompted the parents to confront the reality of their child’s inner turmoil.
Katy said, “The anxiety level in Hunter was so apparent that I know that we could not continue kind of turning an eye or not listening. I felt like we were reaching a crisis point because we had kind of lost our kid.”
Moreover, Katy recounted tearful moments and a profound realization that they needed to let go of preconceived notions about who Hunter was supposed to be.

Hunter’s father, Mac, shared a significant moment that marked his realization that Hunter was transgender. The pivotal incident occurred during a fashion-design camp, where Mac went to pick up Hunter.
Hunter approached Mac the morning before the event with a question: “Dad, do you mind if I wear heels?” Mac, recalled feeling a profound “no, no, no.” Despite this inner conflict, he mustered the strength to respond externally with an affirming, “Yes, you can.”
It was at that moment that the weight of the situation became undeniably real for Mac. He vividly remembered the internal struggle of reconciling preconceived notions about raising a son and the simultaneous acknowledgment that Hunter was bravely embracing their true identity.
Mac expressed the emotional complexity of that instant, recognizing the need to set aside ingrained ideas about gender while simultaneously experiencing a sense of grief and joy.
Hunter Schafer underwent transition surgery at 18
Hunter revealed that, at the age of 18, they underwent transition surgery as part of the process to align their physical appearance with their gender identity. After the surgery, Hunter was put on hormone therapy, a crucial aspect of their transition.
Moreover, Hunter felt that he should not be classified as either male or female, even after effective hormone therapy and surgery. Instead, she chose to identify as non-binary.
She said, “But now as I’m exploring the nonbinary part of myself, it’s becoming almost—not annoying—but like I just wish that some people could see more to me than that right away.”
Later in the interview, she revealed that she now identifies as transgender and that people should be aware that she is not and has never felt like a “cisgirl” and is proud of her transgender identity.
Hunter Schafer recently broke up with her boyfriend Dominic Fike
Hunter and Dominic Fike first crossed paths in early 2021 as they began filming the second season of the hit series Euphoria.
Hunter, already a series regular portraying the complex character Jules, found a new connection with Fike, who joined the cast as Elliot, a character entwined in a romantic storyline with Jules.
Their on-screen chemistry soon spilled into real life, sparking romance rumors that gained momentum after they were spotted holding hands during a dinner date in West Hollywood on January 16, 2022.

Britnee Kellogg is a talented country music singer who gained fame due to her appearance in seasons 11 and 12 of American Idol. Recently, she released the music video for ‘She’s Come a Long Way,’ which not only has good music but also good lyrics and a powerful message.
She premiered the music exclusively through People’s magazine and the music video included powerful women from her home state of Oregon who have made their way through extreme challenges.
Kellogg collaborated with Autumn McEntire on this song, who ironically turned out to be the niece of the person she idolizes the most. In a recent interview with People, she mentioned, “Reba McEntire is the love of my life. She’s the first cassette tape I ever owned. She has always been a huge inspiration for me musically.”
It was like fate that she met Autumn a few years back and got to work with her. “When I first met her several years ago, I knew her last name was McEntire, but that’s kind of a common last name,” says Kellogg.
She continues the conversation by saying, “I guess I never asked her until she posted something about having a cut on her aunt’s record and I was like, ‘Excuse me, you never told me this?!’ It made me respect her even more that she doesn’t go around bragging that she’s Reba’s niece. I think that says a lot about her character.”

The video then went on to introduce other powerful women, like 30-year-old Erica, a nurse who is in high demand. Then, Nikki was introduced, a 49-year-old layout engineer who survived a life-changing injury.

Other women included were 26-year-old business advisor and artist Kayla and 46-year-old Midwife Megan, who has delivered 500+ babies and has been clean and sober for 17 years. Next came Lisa, who is a special education teacher and a teen mother, followed by 37-year-old Mikeisha, who is a personal shopper, boutique owner, healthcare leader, and a wife and a mother.
The video also included 52-year-old Tracie, who is a property manager, and Slumberkins founders Kelly and Callie. The last person to be introduced was Angela, the co-founder of I Am Foster Kid.
Kellogg created this music video to honor how they’ve come a long way and still have much to do. She wanted to leave a very powerful message so that every woman is inspired by what they are doing.

Since the song was released on YouTube, it has garnered more than 5k views in a week, with 500+ likes. Although the video has not garnered many comments on the platform, her Instagram post is filled with congratulatory posts and positive reviews.
On March 28, Kellogg posted a video reacting to the People’s cover of her new music video, captioning it with “Thank you @people and @triciadespres for highlighting this song and these amazing women”

I don’t know I feel like I would love that just to keep the name going and have that massive family line in hopefully WWE. At the same time, I also know what goes into this profession how hard it is, and how taxing it is on your body and your mind and I don’t know if I want that for my kids or not. Like I do but I don’t. It’s so amazing on the other side of things but it also takes a lot outta you. But I guess we’ll see down the line.”

To this, the wrestler replied, “He loves it. He doesn’t make him feel a certain negative sort of way. He’s happy for me and he also knows how far I can go in this company and how far his limitations are as well.”

While discussing it, she also discussed the reality of wrestling being male-dominated and acknowledged the limited opportunities for women in the sport. “So if you show you’re different and connect with the crowd in a certain way, you’re gonna skyrocket to the top,” she says.
Ripley then talked about her husband, stating, “Whereas for him, he has been in the WWE, he’s been wrestling for over 10 years, maybe 15 years… for a long long time. At the end of the day, the platform that I’m on is higher and I feel like he doesn’t get threatened by that.”
The wrestler also said that her fiancée reassures her that he doesn’t get threatened by her popularity and she trusts him. She also reveals that he helps her grow along the way and it is what a relationship should be like.

Adams goes by his ring name, Buddy Matthews, and is a professional wrestler currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He was previously in WWE as Buddy Murphy and assigned to developmental territory NXT.
He made his debut in AEW on the February 23, 2022, episode of Dynamite alongside Malakai Black and Brody King of the House of Black. Following his impactful debut, AEW president Tony Khan announced his signing with the company.
