Eddie Levert’s Children — The Singer Lost Two Kids in 2006 and 2008

RIP Gerald Levert and Sean Levert!

Published

on

Eddie Levert is an American musician best recognized for his work as the lead vocalist for The O’Jays.

To date, he has seven children —  Gerald Levert, Sean Levert, Eddie Jr. Levert, Kandice Levert, Eurydice Levert, Shawn Levert, and Ryan Levert. Four of his kids, Eddie Jr., Kandice, Eurydice, and Shawn are living their life out of the spotlight.

However, three of his children, Gerald, Sean, and Ryan, followed in his footsteps into the music industry. Ryan, who recorded a song called ‘Stupid People’ with her father at 13, is currently pursuing a career in music.

Gerald and Sean, on the other hand, are no more. Levert lost both of his sons in the span of two years in 2006 and 2008, respectively. Here is all we know about it.

Gerald Levert (July 13, 1966 – November 10, 2006)

Gerald was an American singer, composer, and producer. He was most recognized for his work with his brother, Sean, and friend, Marc Gordon, in the R&B vocal trio LeVert.

He was also a part of LSG, a supergroup that included Keith Sweat, Johnny Gill, and himself. In his career, he released nine solo albums, six as a member of LeVert, two with his father Eddie, and two as part of LSG.

Gerald was also credited with discovering R&B groups The Rude Boys, Men at Large, and 1 of the Girls. He was also a member of the R&B group Black Men United.

Gerald was not only a singer but also an actor. He began his acting career as Charles Young, making his debut appearance on The Jamie Foxx Show for two episodes. The first one was the episode titled ‘Just Don’t Do It’ that aired on November 5, 1998.

Gerald returned in the series finale ‘Always and Forever’ in January 2001, when Jamie (Jamie Foxx) and Fancy (Garcelle Beauvais) got married, and he sang the opening ceremony alongside other singers Gladys Knight and Marilyn McCoo.

Gerald’s final acting performance that aired during his lifetime was on November 10, 2003, exactly three years prior to his death. He was featured in an episode of The Parkers where he played T’s father in the episode.

Gerald was found dead in his bed on November 10, 2006, at his Cleveland, Ohio residence. Initial reports indicated that he died of an apparent heart attack, but an autopsy done by the Cuyahoga County coroner’s office determined that his death was caused by a lethal mix of prescription opioids and over-the-counter medications.

His bloodstream included narcotic pain medicines Vicodin, Percocet, and Darvocet, as well as anxiety medication Xanax and two over-the-counter antihistamines. Gerald was also diagnosed with pneumonia at the postmortem.

The official cause of death was acute intoxication, and it was considered an accident. At the time of his death, Gerald was forty years old.

Following the announcement of Gerald’s cause of death, a family spokeswoman revealed that all of the medications discovered in his system were prescribed to the singer. He was on pain medication due to persistent shoulder discomfort and surgery in 2005 to repair a damaged Achilles tendon.

Sean Levert (September 28, 1968 – March 30, 2008)

Sean, like his brother, was an American singer, composer, and actor. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and created the LeVert alongside his older brother Gerald and childhood friend Marc Gordon.

In the 1980s and early 1990s, they had numerous chart-topping R&B songs in the United States. Sean’s solo career began in 1995 with the album The Other Side on Atlantic Records, which peaked at #22 on the US Billboard R&B chart and #146 on the Billboard 200.

The album produced the charting singles ‘Put Your Body Where Your Mouth Is’ (U.S. R&B #40) and ‘Same One’ (U.S. R&B #57) the same year.

Sean married Angela Lowe and has six children —  Shareaun Woods, Keith Potts, Sean Levert Jr., Breoni Levert, Brandon Levert, and Chad Levert. In 2008, he was sentenced to 22 months in jail for failing to pay child support for three of his children, who were then ages 11, 15, and 17.

Sean fell ill while jailed at the Cuyahoga County Correctional Facility before being transferred to a state prison, suffering high blood pressure and hallucinations. Unfortunately, he died on March 30, 2008, six days after being taken to the jail.

In May 2008, the Cuyahoga County coroner found that his death was due to complications from sarcoidosis. The official Coroner’s report also mentioned high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and Xanax withdrawal.

At the time of his death, he was 39 years old.

Eddie Levert’s reaction to his children’s death

Like any father, Eddie was heartbroken over his children dying back to back. To deal with Gerald’s death, Eddie immersed himself in work. However, only a year and four months later, tragedy struck again when Sean died.

Eddie adored his children, and he stated that losing them wasn’t easy. In fact, after his boys died, he wanted to blame himself because he felt he could have prevented them from experiencing certain things while they were growing up.

He told Ebony Magazine, “I wanted to really blame myself because I felt like it was some things I could’ve kept them from seeing that I did in my life, as a father.” He also confessed that he would have done anything to stop his children from dying.

He said, “Losing my boys was not an easy thing. But there’s always that thing that says, ‘God never puts anything on you that you can’t handle,’ and ‘Everything has a reason.’ And it was never in my power to stop that from happening, because I would’ve given anything and everything.”

However, he knows that he cannot dwell on losing his children forever. Instead, he holds onto their memory.

In an interview with Cleaveland.com, he got emotional about his kids’ death and said, “I really miss them. It’s just hard. But I can’t get caught up in the fact that it wasn’t supposed to be like this because it happened.”

With his children gone, Eddie explained that he takes comfort in “God’s strength” and the music memories he shares with them. He considers his time onstage with his boys to be one of the most rewarding experiences of his life and is keeping his kids alive in his memories.

Britnee Kellogg Releases New Music Video with Empowering Women

Britnee Kellogg is a talented country music singer who gained fame due to her appearance in seasons 11 and 12 of American Idol. Recently, she released the music video for ‘She’s Come a Long Way,’ which not only has good music but also good lyrics and a powerful message.

She premiered the music exclusively through People’s magazine and the music video included powerful women from her home state of Oregon who have made their way through extreme challenges.

Kellogg collaborated with Autumn McEntire on this song, who ironically turned out to be the niece of the person she idolizes the most. In a recent interview with People, she mentioned, “Reba McEntire is the love of my life. She’s the first cassette tape I ever owned. She has always been a huge inspiration for me musically.”

It was like fate that she met Autumn a few years back and got to work with her. “When I first met her several years ago, I knew her last name was McEntire, but that’s kind of a common last name,” says Kellogg.

She continues the conversation by saying, “I guess I never asked her until she posted something about having a cut on her aunt’s record and I was like, ‘Excuse me, you never told me this?!’ It made me respect her even more that she doesn’t go around bragging that she’s Reba’s niece. I think that says a lot about her character.”

The women in Britnee Kellogg’s ‘She’s Come a Long Way’

The music video for ‘She’s Come a Long Way’ started with a woman introducing herself as 44-year-old Alexis, who is currently a senior director of Accounting. She also revealed that she’s a mother of 5 children and a breast cancer survivor.

The video then went on to introduce other powerful women, like 30-year-old Erica, a nurse who is in high demand. Then, Nikki was introduced, a 49-year-old layout engineer who survived a life-changing injury.

Other women included were 26-year-old business advisor and artist Kayla and 46-year-old Midwife Megan, who has delivered 500+ babies and has been clean and sober for 17 years. Next came Lisa, who is a special education teacher and a teen mother, followed by 37-year-old Mikeisha, who is a personal shopper, boutique owner, healthcare leader, and a wife and a mother.

The video also included 52-year-old Tracie, who is a property manager, and Slumberkins founders Kelly and Callie. The last person to be introduced was Angela, the co-founder of I Am Foster Kid.

Kellogg created this music video to honor how they’ve come a long way and still have much to do. She wanted to leave a very powerful message so that every woman is inspired by what they are doing.

This article delves into Orton’s life, exploring her role as a devoted wife and mother to her wrestling-enthusiast children.

Kim is a doting mother who takes immense pride in her family, and her social media platforms are a testament to this. As a proud mom to her five children, her Instagram feed is a delightful showcase of their family’s milestones and precious moments.

She shares it all with her followers, from vacations to graduations to birthdays. One recent vacation picture even included a girl in a white shirt, potentially hinting at the girlfriend of one of her sons. Her posts capture the essence of their family’s joy and togetherness.

In January, She shared pictures of a “little girls trip” with her daughters and Randy, captioning it with heartwarming words: “Went on a little girls trip with my besties (and daddy @randyorton) a couple days ago.”

She also proudly shared the good news of her eldest son’s college graduation on Instagram, showcasing her pride in her children’s achievements.

Even during festive seasons like Christmas, she delights her followers by sharing family pictures, wishing them well, and allowing a glimpse into their warm family traditions.

Kim and Randy Orton have a total of five kids

The Orton couple has built a beautiful blended family of five children, each with unique stories and personalities.

Their eldest child is Alanna Marie Orton, Randy’s daughter from his previous marriage to Samantha Speno. Born in 2008, Alanna holds a special place in her father’s heart, as evidenced by the rose tattoo on his arm representing her.

Brooklyn Rose Orton, born in 2016, is the only biological child shared between Kim and Randy.

Kim’s three sons from her previous relationship have also become integral to the Orton family. Robbie, the eldest of the three, was born in 2004 and is now 19. Michael, born in 2002, is the second-oldest at 21.

The youngest of Kim’s sons is Antony, born in 2010 and currently 13 years old. Despite coming from different backgrounds, all five children have found a loving and supportive environment within their blended family.

Randy has embraced the role of a stepfather to Kim’s sons, creating a strong familial bond that transcends traditional definitions.

Kim Orton’s whole family loves wrestling

The Orton family’s love for wrestling runs deep, a passion that precedes their blended union. Even before marrying the wrestling icon Randy, Kim was an avid fan of WWE and the sport itself.

She often joked with her friends and family about her dreams of meeting and marrying the legendary superstar one day. When Kim and Randy’s paths eventually crossed, their shared enthusiasm for wrestling created an instant connection.

Although Randy had yet to meet Kim’s sons from her previous relationship, the boys were already well-acquainted with his profession and accomplishments within the wrestling world.

In a 2019 interview with WWE, Randy fondly recalled, “When I first met them, now they are huge wrestling fans, like there’s old pictures of them before I knew them wearing Jeff Hardy stuff, doing Halloween, and it’s really great [expletive], like they’re really huge fans.”

This love for wrestling transcends generations within the Orton household. Even their youngest child, Brooklyn Rose, born in 2016, has developed an unwavering passion for the sport at an early age.

With Randy being a wrestling icon himself, it’s no surprise that his daughter has been captivated by the wrestling world since she entered it.

Kim Orton’s husband loves bonding with his stepsons

As a future WWE Hall of Famer, Randy’s finisher, the iconic RKO, has become a cultural phenomenon, with fans eagerly anticipating its delivery and sharing their excitement through the viral “#RKOOuttaNowhere” hashtag.

Away from the ring, he finds joy in his blended family with his wife Kim and their five children. His paternal bond with his stepsons shines through within this loving household, exemplified by their playful interactions and shared appreciation for wrestling.

In one memorable instance, while the family was enjoying quality time by the pool, he, true to his “Viper” persona, caught his elder stepson off guard with a classic RKO maneuver, much to everyone’s delight and laughter.

Months later, the tables turned when the family gathered again near the pool. This time, Orton’s stepson delivered the ultimate surprise, executing a flawless RKO on the unsuspecting Apex Predator himself.

Even the veteran wrestler couldn’t help but be caught off guard by his stepson’s sneaky move, a testament to their bond and the lessons he has imparted.

Kim Orton’s relationship with Randy Orton

Kim and Randy’s relationship is a true love story that blossomed from a chance encounter at a wrestling event 2012. Already a fan of Randy’s work, Kim caught his eye while cheering him on with her sons.

Their initial meeting was nothing short of serendipitous. Kim’s sons even made a sign saying, “Randy Orton RKO my mom,” which caught the wrestler’s attention.

From that day forward, their bond only grew stronger. They spent hours talking and getting to know each other, and Randy wasted no time planning to see her again.

As Kim recalls, “From that day, that was it. It’s like we’ve been together since that day, it was the craziest thing.”

Their relationship quickly blossomed into a deep, soulful connection. Kim, in her own words, described Randy as her “SOULMATE without a doubt,” a sentiment echoed by Randy himself, who cherishes his wife’s unwavering support and the joy she brings to their family.

In 2015, during a romantic getaway in Bora Bora, Randy took the next step and proposed to Kim, cementing their love with an engagement. Later that year, they exchanged vows in a beautiful Las Vegas wedding, surrounded by their loved ones.

What makes Kim and Randy’s relationship truly special is their genuine admiration and respect for one another. He openly acknowledges Kim as a “real-life superhero,” praising her dedication to their family.

Meanwhile, Kim is in awe of Randy’s accomplishments and the love he shows their children, both biological and step.

Rhea Ripley Shares Views On Having Kids With Buddy Matthews

Rhea Ripley is currently dominating the WWE’s Raw Brand. This Australian wrestler made the mark in WWE by becoming the inaugural NXT UK Women’s Champion and later seizing the NXT Women’s Championship.

With a very successful career, this wrestler also has a successful love life. She is engaged to fellow Australian wrestler Matthew Adams, whom she started dating in 2022.

Amidst the marriage plans, Ripley talked about pregnancy and kids in a recent podcast episode of IMPAULSIVE by Jake Paul. On March 27, IMPAULSIVE posted a video titled Rhea Ripley’s Relationship w/ Dom Mysterio, Fighting Her Fiancé, Getting Stalked by WWE Fans: 412, where she talks about various things for over an hour.

In this YouTube video, she talks about WrestleMania vs Becky Lynch, ranking Top 4 Women’s stars, wrestling with nipple piercings, and more. While discussing different topics, Paul asked her if she ever wanted to have kids.

To this, Ripley replied, “One day, yeah,” implying that she had thought about getting pregnant. Paul then leads the conversation asking her how she would wrestle when she’s pregnant.

The wrestler nonchalantly commented, “Well, I wouldn’t wrestle while I was pregnant because you’ll end up killing the poor thing.” In a lighter tone, they quipped about whether anyone had ever wrestled while pregnant, suggesting it might have happened accidentally.

“One day I would like little me’s little body Matthews running around. They’re going to annoy the crap out of me but I’m gonna get everything I dished out as a kid,” Ripley continues.

She was then asked if she wanted her kids to be legacy wrestlers, to which she replied “Umm, yes and no. I don’t know I feel like I would love that just to keep the name going and have that massive family line in hopefully WWE. At the same time, I also know what goes into this profession how hard it is, and how taxing it is on your body and your mind and I don’t know if I want that for my kids or not. Like I do but I don’t. It’s so amazing on the other side of things but it also takes a lot outta you. But I guess we’ll see down the line.”

Rhea Ripley also talks about her partner in the podcast

While talking about various topics on the podcast IMPAULSIVE, Ripley also shares some details about her soon-to-be husband, Adams. Paul posed a question, inquiring, “You’re a prominent figure in the industry, which could potentially challenge some men’s egos if their partner achieves greater success. Does he find it difficult to cope with? Is it motivating for him? Does he embrace it?”

To this, the wrestler replied, “He loves it. He doesn’t make him feel a certain negative sort of way. He’s happy for me and he also knows how far I can go in this company and how far his limitations are as well.”

Rhea Ripley

While discussing it, she also discussed the reality of wrestling being male-dominated and acknowledged the limited opportunities for women in the sport. “So if you show you’re different and connect with the crowd in a certain way, you’re gonna skyrocket to the top,” she says.

Ripley then talked about her husband, stating, “Whereas for him, he has been in the WWE, he’s been wrestling for over 10 years, maybe 15 years… for a long long time. At the end of the day, the platform that I’m on is higher and I feel like he doesn’t get threatened by that.”

The wrestler also said that her fiancée reassures her that he doesn’t get threatened by her popularity and she trusts him. She also reveals that he helps her grow along the way and it is what a relationship should be like.

Who is Rhea Ripley’s fiancée, Matthew Adams?

Adams goes by his ring name, Buddy Matthews, and is a professional wrestler currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He was previously in WWE as Buddy Murphy and assigned to developmental territory NXT.

He made his debut in AEW on the February 23, 2022, episode of Dynamite alongside Malakai Black and Brody King of the House of Black. Following his impactful debut, AEW president Tony Khan announced his signing with the company.

Some of his notable victories include winning a trios match at Revolution’s buy-in-show against Death Triangle on March 5, 2023, defeating The Elite. However, they experienced defeat in August 2023 against The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn.
