Devon Conway Talks About Move To New Zealand With Wife Kim

Devon Conway‘s career has taken some surprising turns, going from underperforming in South Africa to representing New Zealand.

Conway scored his first double-century in first-class cricket for Gauteng at the provincial level and celebrated joyfully. This was a significant achievement for the left-handed batsman, as he had never accomplished this feat in his eight years of professional cricket.

However, this inning did not lead to a new beginning for Conway. Instead, it marked the end of his time as a South African domestic cricketer, as he played no other matches in that capacity. According to ESPN Cricinfo, in August 2017, he left South Africa for his new home – New Zealand.

Conway initially considered playing cricket in England under the Kolpak rule. Still, he decided to move to New Zealand instead, partly due to the encouragement of his friends who had already moved there.

His primary motivation was to keep playing cricket and enjoy the game, and he did not imagine that he would become eligible to play for the Black Caps. However, this became a reality when he received his international cap.

He has no regrets about his decision to move to New Zealand, which he made with the support of his wife, and he views it as a positive gamble in his career.

Conway pursued cricket at 14, opting for the sport instead of a potential career as a central midfielder. Three years later, in March 2009, he made his first-class debut for Gauteng against Easterns at the Wanderers but was out for a duck.

Eight years later, in the same venue, Conway bid farewell to South African cricket with a double-century against Border. He had already decided to leave the country after discussing the idea with his wife, Kim, during a game of golf.

She encouraged him to follow his dream, and they agreed to move to New Zealand. The couple sold their house and car in Bedfordview, a wealthy Johannesburg suburb, and booked their flight to start a new life.

“It was two things,” he said to Wisden. “A better opportunity to play international cricket, and a better lifestyle in a different country. We had really good feedback from friends, who said New Zealand was a safe and beautiful place to live, so we thought let’s give it a go.”

Gary Stead, the coach of New Zealand, had decided that he had seen sufficient evidence. In May 2020, three months before Conway was eligible to play, he was selected as one of the country’s 20 contracted players.

Conway, the New Zealand and Chennai Super Kings batsman, tied the knot with his partner Kim Watson in a special ceremony held in South Africa on April 24, 2022.

Who Are Alexis Rodman’s Parents? Know About Her Husband and Children

Alexis Rodman is a star kid famously known as the oldest daughter of the NBA player Dennis Rodman. She was born to her mother, Annie Bakes, who was a former American adult model.

Alexis was born on September 28, 1998, in Los Angeles, California, United States. The last time she celebrated her birthday was her 24th birthday in 2022.

Growing up without a reliable father figure due to her parent’s separation, the star kid had to navigate an unconventional childhood that presented unique obstacles and hurdles to overcome.

Alexis Rodman’s parents had an abusive relationship

Dennis and Bakes met at a club in Los Angeles, and soon they started dating. After dating in the mid-1980s, Alexis’ parents lived together starting in 1987 and remained in a relationship for about six years before breaking up shortly after Alexis was born.

They reconciled a few months later. In 1992, Dennis and Bakes married on Alexis’ fourth birthday, but their marriage ended in divorce just a few years later in 1993.

The star kid’s mother made shocking allegations about her marriage with Dennis after it failed. She claimed that Dennis had compelled her to undergo four abortions, which resulted in her inability to have children in the future.

Furthermore, she accused the NBA star of infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease during their marriage.

Bakes, now an author, chronicled her abusive marriage with Dennis in her books Worse Than He Says He Is: My Walk On The Wild Side With Dennis Rodman and White Girls Don’t Bounce.

Alexis missed a father figure in her childhood

As a result of her parent’s separation, Alexis stayed with her mother and had an unconventional upbringing without a consistent father figure, which had its challenges.

In a 1997 interview with the Chicago Tribune, Bakes revealed that Alexis was emulating her father’s behavior but in a negative manner. Annie shared that Alexis had physically assaulted another player while playing basketball, citing her reason as “Well, Daddy does it.”

The most distressing aspect of the situation was that Alexis placed the blame on her mother for her father’s absence. According to Bakes, “Alexis displays a great deal of anger and holds me responsible for leaving Dennis.”

She added that Alexis would often tell her schoolmates that “My daddy has girlfriends” and “My daddy doesn’t come to see me.”

Alexis has two half-siblings, Dennis Rodman Jr. and Trinity Rodman, who were born to Dennis and his ex-wife Michelle Moyer during their marriage from 2003 to 2012.

Things eventually improved for Alexis, and fortunately, the traumatic experiences of her childhood did not linger into her adolescence, and she grew into a mature and stable individual. She is living a happy life now with her husband and children.

Alexis married her boyfriend-turned-husband Robert Bunfill in an intimate ceremony held at Citrus Heights, California. As per The Knot Registry, the couple took their vows on August 30, 2014.

There isn’t any information available about the exact date of their dating. As we see their bond, they might’ve dated for a few years before jumping into marriage.

Is Harmanpreet Kaur married to a husband?

Fans of Kaur, especially men, can be happy to know that the cricketer is yet to share the wedding vows. That’s right! Kaur isn’t married to a husband. So, people searching for her “husband name” can finally rest.

But what about her dating life? And dating history? Is she currently dating a boyfriend? Or was she in a relationship in the past?

The answer to that also seems to be no. Kaur has always been the type of person who has kept her love life hidden from the public and media. There is also little to no information about her dating life on her social media handles.

She hasn’t posted pictures with a man who can be regarded as her possible partner. As a result of her privacy, it’s best to believe that Kaur’s current relationship status is single. Furthermore, as there is no info about her dating history, she also has no ex-boyfriends.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s parents aren’t in a hurry for their daughter’s wedding

Harmanpreet comes from a traditional Punjabi family. And in most cases in Punjabi, or Hindu, families, the parents decide most things for their daughter, including marriage. Some families even tend to restrict their daughter’s social life.

Thankfully, that isn’t the case when it comes to Harmanpreet. The Indian cricketer has doting parents – Harmandar Singh Bhullar and Satwinder Kaur – who have never pressurized their daughter regarding marriage and have helped her pursue a career in cricket.

In a 2017 interview with Times of India, Bhullar and Satwinder mentioned that they had never asked Harmanpreet to suggest a suitable age and time for her wedding. They also said cricket comes first for them and their daughter.

Harmanpreet’s parents stated, “Cricket first. Right from childhood, we wanted her to be a batsman. We can’t deny her right to build her career and ability to win laurels for India as a female star.”

More recently, Harmanpreet played a brilliant knock of 171 not out while representing India at the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. After playing such a special inning, the cricketer’s parents started receiving calls from people asking for her hands in marriage.

Harmanpreet revealed the full story when she and her fellow teammates appeared in one of the episodes of the Indian chat show The Kapil Sharma Show. She mentioned that while her parents did receive many marriage proposals for her, they haven’t forced her to get married.

“Actually, my parents do receive calls, but I’m lucky enough that they haven’t forced me to get married. Instead, they have always supported me with cricket and motivated me to play for as long as I wish,” she told the host Kapil Sharma.

That said, it’s safe to say that Harmanpreet’s parents aren’t in a hurry to witness the wedding of their eldest daughter. Besides her parents, Harmanpreet has a younger sister named Hemjeet — she a post-graduate in English and an assistant professor at Guru Nanak College.

Mathew Fraser In Crutches — Did He Have A Knee Surgery?

Mathew Fraser, aka Mat Fraser, has been seen with crutches a lot recently, raising the curiosity of his well-wishers.

The retired CrossFit athlete debuted his crutches via an Instagram post on March 15, 2023. He had shared some pictures alongside American CrossFit athlete Mal O’Brien, where he was training her while standing in crutches.

He used a dialogue from the 2006 comedy film Grandma’s Boy in the caption. The caption was, “*crutches* a few weeks ago, I got metal legs. It was a risky procedure, but it was worth it.”

After seeing Fraser in crutches, people began to worry about him and asked questions like, “What happened to Mat??” “Does anyone know what happened to Matt?” and “What happened with Mat’s Legs?”

Netizens also started to discuss the topic on Reddit after one Redditor posted the above-mentioned Instagram post’s screenshot with the caption, “Fraser’s surgery?” Under the Reddit thread, people jokingly mentioned that Fraser got height implants.

On the other hand, one user seemed to have genuine detail as he wrote, “Knee surgery to clean up some lingering issues – confirmed with folks at the Open announcement when he didn’t travel with Mal for 23.3.”

As for the actual reason, it has now been shared by the former CrossFit athlete himself on his social media handle. On Monday, March 27, 2023, he took to his Instagram handle to shed some light on the fan queries.

He posted some pictures of himself where he was seen drinking coffee and resting in his bed while his right leg was wrapped in bandages and patches. “You’ve seen the crutches and lots of curiosity,” he wrote in the caption.

He continued, “Sometime in Feb I blew out my knee in a BJJ class — total fluke accident in the warmup (no, it was not with Amanda Nunes although she did kick my ass). Completely torn ACL, Grade 2 MCL, Grade 1 LCL & a tear in the Meniscus.”

As Fraser went on, he mentioned that he went to California in early March for his surgery and spent a “few weeks in PT.” “Now, back home on the regular schedule of coaching and working. Finding new ways to rehab and easing back into fitness as I heal,” he added.

In the end, he mentioned that he is very bummed about the condition of his leg but also cannot be too upset. He then wrote that he has been living his life outside the gym due to the injury but will return to his regular self/routine after a couple of months of recovery.

When Fraser revealed the real deal with his leg, his well-wishers rushed to the comment section and dropped positive comments. For instance, one wrote, “Really sorry for this news bro. Wishing you a quick recovery. Also hope It doesn’t deter you from BJJ.”

“Ah man! So sorry to hear (& see) that this happened. Admittedly, I love your positivity. This has always been one of your top qualities!” another user commented.

Furthermore, one user shared his own injury story and wrote, “Snapped mine in a rugby match a month ago. The surgery is on Tuesday finishing my 3rd week of prehab tomorrow looking forward to just getting the rehab started.”

To conclude, the retired Canadian-American professional CrossFit athlete blew out his knee and had major injuries during one of his Brazilian jiu-jitsu [BJJ] classes in February 2023. And now, he is resting and recovering after a successful knee surgery.
