Lisa Armstrong is an award-winning make-up artist working as the lead make-up designer in BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing. However, she has earned more fame as the former wife of Britain’s Got Talent co-host Ant McPartlin.

The now-divorced couple first met each other backstage at a pop concert in Newcastle City Hall in 1994 when both of them were burgeoning pop stars. They eventually began dating, and McPartlin proposed to Armstrong while vacationing in Dubai in April 2005.

Over a year after getting engaged, the couple walked down the aisle and shared their wedding vows. The special ceremony was held on July 22, 2006, in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, with 150 guests and Dec Donnelly serving as McPartlin’s best man.

After their wedding, the two lived happily for many years. But things had started to become different, including McPartlin’s stint in rehab, leading to their divorce after more than a decade of marital relationship. 

The cracks in their relationship first showed up in September 2017 – after McPartlin’s rehab period ended – when McPartlin was seen without his wedding ring for the first time since he married Armstrong. It was also reported that McPartlin had moved out of their London house.

On the other hand, Armstrong was firing back at those who were saying that her relationship with her now-former husband had ended. But the split rumors became more apparent when the then-married couple was apart during Christmas 2017.

Finally, in January 2018, McPartlin’s spokesman confirmed the pair were ending their marriage. The spokesman said, “In response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after 11 years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin.”

“Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families. No further statement will be made,” they added.

Sometime after McPartlin’s spokesman released the statement, McPartlin filed for divorce from Armstrong, which was granted to them by the court in October 2018. Their divorce was finalized in 2020, with McPartlin agreeing to pay more than £31 million to Armstrong.

Currently, McPartlin is married to his former personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett. And from this marriage, he is a step-father to two daughters, whom his present wife welcomed with her former husband, Scott Corbett.

Does Lisa Armstrong have children?

Since Armstrong and McPartlin had been together for over 24 years, including the 11 years they were married, people would automatically assume they had welcomed a couple of children. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The formerly married couple struggled with infertility and never welcomed any kids when they were in a relationship, either romantic or marital. Besides, when Armstrong was rumored to be pregnant in February 2009, they had to deny it.

At the time, McPartlin stated, “We’ll have been married three years this summer – of course we want children. We definitely want to start a family soon – it will naturally happen.”

In July 2010, McPartlin again talked about wanting a baby with Armstrong and how their work commitments got in the way. He also said that they were trying at the time.

He said, “We’ve wanted children for a while, but we’re both busy. We’re on a break now, the first proper one in 15 years. So Lisa and I are trying for a baby…well, we’ve been trying for a little while, so fingers crossed.”

Similarly, McPartlin further discussed this topic during one of his interviews in 2013. He addressed the rumors that he was holding off having kids until his co-host, Donnelly, settled down with the right girl.

He said, “There’s a rumor that we do everything together, and I’m holding off having kids till Dec finds himself Mrs. Right. I love that idea, but I’m afraid it’s not true. Lisa and I would love to have kids. We’re trying. It’s tougher than you think when you get a bit older.”

However, they couldn’t have any children, which was also one of the reasons why McPartlin became depressed and chose drugs. That said, when the formerly married couple didn’t have kids, they welcomed a pet dog, a chocolate labrador named Hurley, in 2013.

When they brought Hurley, the feeling of not having a child was quite over, and they used to spend most of their free time with Hurley. However, that changed when their marriage collapsed. And initially, they agreed to share the custody of Hurley, which was followed as well.

But as of February 2023, it has been reported that the arrangement was being disputed as Armstrong wanted Hurley to live with her full-time, and McPartlin disagreed.

As for what led Armstrong to dispute the previously agreed arrangement, it’s because McPartlin currently lives with his present wife, Corbett, and the two have adopted two maltipoos named Milo and Bumble to their family.

At the time, a source close to the reality TV co-host told The Mail, “Lisa has asked to have Hurley, but Ant is saying no. He has two more dogs now, a new wife and two stepdaughters, but still he wants joint custody.”

“It has led to some difficult conversations between Ant and Lisa. It’s all very sad. Ant has been able to move on, get remarried and get two more dogs. Lisa has been left to pick up the pieces,” they added.

Armstrong has been in a romantic relationship with her new boyfriend since her divorce from McPartlin. And her boyfriend’s name is James Green, a London-based freelance TV/film lighting electrician, as per his Instagram bio.

Armstrong and Green began dating in 2020 after the latter reportedly ended his marriage with his ex-wife Kirsty. Likewise, it’s reported that Green is also a father of two children from his now-former marriage with Kirsty.

Returning to Armstrong and Green, they started dating in 2020 and went public with their relationship in 2021. And while they hadn’t been dating long, in May 2022, sources had already indicated their possible wedding in the near future.

Insiders claimed that Armstrong wanted the complete opposite of her first wedding and wanted to elope instead of wanting a huge and lavish wedding ceremony. “She looks back at her wedding pictures with Ant and cringes, as it was so formal,” the source added.

However, it doesn’t seem like Armstrong and Green are quite ready to walk down the aisle again. Nonetheless, it’s fair to say that their togetherness is still together, which can also be witnessed via Armstrong’s most recent Instagram post of Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

Keith Rupert Murdoch almost got married again at the age of 92

Murdoch announced his engagement to Ann Lesley Smith, a former police chaplain, as mentioned by BBC. The couple, with an age difference of 26 years, met at an event held at Murdoch’s vineyard in California in September. 

Murdoch, who is 92 years old, expressed his happiness about finding love again and referred to this relationship as his last. He said he proposed to Smith with a $2 million diamond ring on St. Patrick’s Day, jokingly mentioning his Irish heritage.
