Fans Are Not Happy With QVC Firing Its Most Popular Hosts

Quality Value Convenience, or QVC, is one of the top-rated shopping channels owned by Qurate Retail Group, specializing in home shopping. And as QVC is one of the flagship shopping channels, it tends to hire talented and specialized hosts and representatives.

That being said, people who have been using QVC are angry over the channel after firing their employees, whom the viewers have adored for many years. Some of the hosts that QVC has fired had been serving the channel for over a decade.

The chain of QVC firing their employees started in late 2018 when Qurate Retail Group announced their decision to shut down two of QVC warehouses located in Lancaster and Greenville, resulting in more than 2000 jobs being eliminated in the next two years.

In the next year, the channel once again laid off a couple more of its employees after Qurate Retail Group’s shares and revenues began decreasing. Similarly, more employees were released by the channel after the COVID-19 pandemic began spreading.

As for a reason behind QVC’s decision to lay off their employees, the company has mentioned that they did so to tackle their low revenues. Below you will find fan reactions to the firing and the employees that QVC fired.

Fans react to QVC firing their reputed hosts

After QVC began releasing their veteran hosts and other employees, fans became upset over the decision and created a thread on TV Shopping Queens to discuss more on the topic.

Netizens debated about what would be the actual reason behind QVC’s decision to fire some of the hosts that they had adored over the years. For instance, in the thread, one fan wrote that this decision resulted from the company’s poor management.

On the other hand, some fans mentioned that QVC firing their hosts wasn’t entirely necessary as QVC’s shopping operation was based online, and they didn’t have to shut down their business or their business wasn’t affected by COVID-19.

Similarly, one user expressed her opinion and stated that she was sad to see QVC firing some long-serving hosts as it was tough to get a position at the company in the past because QVC employees served the company for a long time.

Some of the fan comments on the thread of TV Shopping Queens

Their comment read, “It is sad because QVC was the type of company that was hard to get into because its employees rarely left. It was a tight-knit crew. I put the blame squarely on their management/ownership.”

Some popular hosts fired by QVC

As mentioned earlier, viewers of the shopping channel were shocked to see QVC fire some of their popular and reputed hosts. Antonella Nester, Stacey Stauffer, Kristine Zell, and Gabrielle Kerr were among the ones that were let go by the company.

All these hosts took to their respective social media handles on July 16, 2020, to announce their departure from QVC. It was also one of the many reasons why netizens found the firings peculiar and wondered if the reason behind these firings were the same.

As for what these hosts said in their announcement, Nester mentioned that she quit her job at QVC because of the programming changes to the channel’s other channel, QVC2. She was one of the popular hosts of the channel, serving QVC for 18 years.

Her statement read, “You may have heard that QVC recently transitioned QVC2 to all re-aired and previously recorded programming. With that, I am sharing the bittersweet news that I am leaving QVC.”

Likewise, Zell – who worked at QVC for three years – mentioned leaving her position to spend more time with her children. She wrote, “Former TV girl (for now) focused on raising her babies. Follow for family, parenting/beauty hacks and more! Thanks for following along.”

However, Stauffer – worked with QVC for six years – and Kerr – joined QVC in 2007 – didn’t hint at anything through their announcements. Kerr’s statement read, “Hi friends! So glad you stopped by. And thanks for all the love and well wishes.”

As none of the now-former QVC hosts’ statements gave away that they left the company on a sour note, nothing can be said regarding if QVC’s firing of its long-time hosts was to tackle their lower revenues or a case of mismanagement.

That being said, there are still some fan-favorite hosts who are still doing their job at QVC. Some of them are Ali Carr, Amy Stran, Alberti Popaj, Courtney Khondabi, and Carolyn Gracie.

Melissa Gorga Admitted Getting Plastic Surgery And A Nose Job

Rumors of plastic surgery by celebrities are not surprising.

However there are some celebrities who admit going under the knife, but some are always in denial. The Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ) star Melissa Gorga used to be one of those.

She was surrounded by rumors of plastic surgery, especially a nose job. It started after people noted subtle changes in her appearance throughout the years in RHONJ.

However, Gorga had always dodged the question. She never admitted to having plastic surgery or a nose job but said she had good contouring skills.

Finally, on the seventh season of RHONJ in 2016, Gorga admitted to getting work done after a fight with fellow housewife Jacqueline Laurita.

Melissa Gorga admitted to getting a nose job

It is reported that Laurita was constantly telling people around that Gorga had plastic surgery. Moreover, she was allegedly telling everyone that Gorga had four nose jobs.

The two had a massive fight over this topic. Gorga blamed Laurita for telling her secret to everyone.

She said, “Let’s be honest, it’s the worst-kept secret that I’ve had a nose job, but it’s my secret to tell, not hers.” Gorga then admitted that she had one procedure, not four like the rumors suggested.

She told The Daily Dish (via Bravo), “There was definitely not four nose jobs. Four nose jobs? I would look pretty deranged, I would think. That is insane to say four, and I don’t like that the seed was even planted because I think that’s wrong.”

Gorga also explained the reasons she wanted to hide her nose job. She noted that it was a personal thing and she was not hurting anyone with her secret.

“It’s your own business. Some people like to say, ‘Hey, I injected this, tummy tucked this,’ and that’s fine, too. It’s something that’s personal to me. It’s one of the very few things that is personal in my life at this point,” she said.

She pointed out that she had kids and did not want to reveal everything to them or her fanbase. She wanted to keep some things to herself, including her plastic surgery, but because of Laurita, she had to share it with the entire world.

She said, “ That was one of the things I wanted to keep to myself. Unfortunately, I had a crappy friend who has told the world for me.”

Melissa Gorga’s other procedures

After Gorga’s nose job was revealed, she has been more open to sharing about the procedures she has done to date. She admitted to trying out Botox and fillers, like some of the housewives in RHONJ.

Recently, in January 2023, Gorga revealed on the Jeff Lewis Has Issues podcast that she had gotten some work done on her lips. She confessed that her husband, Joe, was not a huge fan of her procedure.

But later, he grew to like it. Apart from fillers and Botox, Gorga has also gotten Emsculpt on her abs.

Is Teresa Giudice Pregnant? Behind The Pregnancy Rumors

Ever since Teresa Giudice started dating her second husband, Luis Ruelas, there have been rumors of her being pregnant with his child.

Teresa already has four children with her first husband, Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice. She started dating Ruelas after divorcing Joe in 2020.

They got engaged in October 2021 and officially married in August 2022. Pregnancy rumors have surrounded Guidice since 2020.

While The Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ) star has constantly denied the rumors, the question never stops following her —  ‘Is Teresa Giudice pregnant?’

Here is all we know about it.

Is Teresa Giudice Pregnant?

At the time of writing, it is unknown if Teresa is pregnant or not. Regardless of the pregnancy rumors, the RHONJ star has not confirmed nor denied the rumors at the time of writing.

But looking at her social media, it seems like she is not pregnant at the moment. Her most recent post on Instagram was on May 30, 2023, where she wore a bikini and showed off her body in Puerto Rico.

She did not look pregnant, as she did not have a baby bump in the photo. Therefore, it is possible that she is not pregnant at the moment.

This is not the first time pregnancy rumors have surrounded the reality TV star. Back in November 2021, fans suspected that Teresa was expecting after she uploaded a picture with Ruelas.

Ruelas was cradling Teresa’s midriff, leading people to believe that the RHONJ star was pregnant. However, she was not expecting a baby, and it was mere speculation of her fans and followers.

Teresa Giudice’s children

Teresa shares four children with her former husband, Joe. Teresa and Joe married in 1999 and divorced after 20 years of marriage in 2020.

Throughout their marriage, the pair had four daughters —  Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana. Gia was born on January 8, 2001, Gabriella on October 4, 2004, Milania on February 2, 2006, and Audriana on September 14, 2009.

Gia was eight years old when RHONJ debuted, and she has been in front of the cameras ever since. She is most known for a viral clip that has been making rounds on TikTok since 2020.

Gia, aged 10, sang an original song for her family about the challenges her mother and uncle were dealing with at the time in season 3. Years later, the video emerged on TikTok, and the lyrics, “waking up in the morning, thinking about so many things,” became viral.

Gia is a recent Rutgers University graduate who studied criminal justice and hopes to become a lawyer. After graduating from Rutgers in May 2023, Teresa posted about the milestone on Instagram.

She wrote, “I am so proud of my devoted and intelligent daughter, Gia, for graduating [from] a stellar university, a huge milestone to accomplish in life. Seeing you graduate college is one of the most special moments in my life.”

Gabriella, Teresa’s second daughter, appears to be more private than the rest of her family since she lacks a prominent social media presence. Teresa told PEOPLE in 2016 that her then-11-year-old daughter aspired to be a professional football player or a model.

Years later, Teresa told The Daily Dish that Gabriella was looking at universities before her final year of high school.

It seems like Milania, Teresa’s third daughter, will be following in her mother’s footsteps into the entertainment industry. When she was just 10 years old,  Milania was interviewed by PEOPLE in 2016.

At the time, Milania said she and her friend had always wanted to be actresses and make YouTube videos. The same year, she walked the runway at New York Fashion Week.

In 2019, she released her debut single, ‘I Just Can’t Wait to Grow Up.’ The RHONJ star talked about the song and gushed, “I think the song is so catchy! I really think it’s going to be a No. 1!,” in an episode of RHONJ.

At the time of writing, Audriana is 13 years old, and not much is known about her. She suffered greatly when her father was imprisoned and eventually deported to Italy.

Teresa and Gia said in 2019 that Audriana, then nine years old, was tormented and bullied at school because of her father. Talking about Audriana’s interests, she is a competitive dancer and is interested in the entertainment industry.

Teresa said of her daughter, “She likes the cameras too. And Audriana was born in front of the cameras.”

Alexa Demie to Reprise Her ‘Euphoria’ Role in Sam Levinson’s ‘The Idol’

After much controversy and talk about The Idol, its first two episodes finally premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 22, 2023.

Directed by Sam Levinson, The Idol follows Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), an aspiring pop idol who wishes to reclaim her fame. After having a nervous breakdown that caused her last tour to be canceled, she resolves to reclaim her title as America’s sexiest pop star.

As a result, she begins a complicated relationship with Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), a self-help guru and the leader of a contemporary cult. Much information about the show was revealed after the premiere.

One of them is Alexa Demie making a cameo on the show by reprising her role as Maddy Perez from Euphoria.

Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez in ‘The Idol’

Levinson is the mastermind behind Euphoria since he created and wrote the series. Euphoria follows a group of teens in the fictional town of East Highland, California, as they search for optimism while dealing with the stresses of love, grief, and addiction.

Some of the issues discussed on Euphoria are the same as that of The Idol like drug abuse, social media, toxic relationships, drug dealing, codependency, toxic positivity, rape, sexual assault, hookup culture, and dating violence, among others.

Therefore, it is not a surprise that Levinson wants to create his own universe like that of Marvel and DC. After it was confirmed that Demie’s character, Perez, would appear on the show, Levinson revealed that Euphoria and The Idol happen in the same universe.

Demie appears in The Idol as a woman at the club where Jocelyn and Tedros first meet. Despite the fact that she plays a minor role in the plot, it will be a memorable throwback for Euphoria fans who may be watching this series anticipating something similar.

Unfortunately, not much information regarding her cameo or the role her character plays in the tale has been provided. She may return in the later half of the program, but viewers must wait until the season premieres to find out.

Demie plays the role of Perez in Euphoria and likely The Idol. She is recognized for her outspoken and confident demeanor, and she is generally considered self-assured and fearless to express herself.

Perez is said to have a strong sense of style and is frequently spotted wearing beautiful and bold clothing. She has a complicated and turbulent relationship with her boyfriend, Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), who is also a significant character in the series.

Their relationship has ups and downs, including episodes of manipulation, deception, and violence. Despite their difficulties, Perez stays emotionally involved in their relationship.

Perez is shown as a devoted friend who is frequently seen supporting her small group of friends, particularly the main character, Rue Bennett (Zendaya). She is also renowned for her fiery attitude and often combative demeanor.

Overall, Perez, a character of enormous depth in the highly acclaimed television series, emerges as a fascinating combination of confidence and vulnerability. She is portrayed with complexity and depth and captivates spectators with her bold approach, unusual style, and turbulent relationships.

The reviews of ‘The Idol’

Ever since its premiere, The Idol is receiving negative reviews, to say the least. Before the premiere, Rolling Stone ran an expose on the series in March 2023.

According to the article, the initial tone and subject of the screenplay had altered, and instead of being focused on a woman’s quest to restore her own agency, it had allegedly devolved into a demeaning narrative bordering on torture porn.

Moreover, there were some really troublesome occurrences on-site. However, The Weeknd and Depp defended the show and Levinson.

Levinson was also criticized for his view. Many complained that he oversexualizes and victimizes the female characters in his shows —  as evident in Euphoria.

Regardless, people were giving it the benefit of the doubt. But now, after the premiere of two episodes, the critics are being brutally honest about the show.

Critics are not happy with the presentation of the show, claiming that it is extremely sexualized. They noted that The Idol supports male fantasy which degrades women.

The series has also been called misogynistic and predatory in nature. Initially, The Idol debuted with 20% on Tomatometer of Rotten Tomatoes.

But at the time of writing, it has 9% on Tomatometer with 11 reviews. The critics’ consensus reads, “Every bit as florid and sleazy as the industry it seeks to satirize, The Idol places itself on a pedestal with unbridled style but wilts under the spotlight.”

Looking at the decrease in Tomatometer, it won’t be a surprise if it decreases more from 9% after more reviews come in.
