How Smoking Cigarettes Helped Mila Kunis in Her Weight Loss Journey

For the 2010 film Black Swan, Mila Kunis lost a lot of weight via a dangerously short-cut method.

In Black Swan, Mila Kunis gave outstanding performances that astounded the globe. However, the character’s look required a lot of work from the actor.

She had to reduce her weight to have a ballerina-like appearance. When celebrities gain or lose a lot of weight for a movie, they frequently boast about how they achieved it healthily.

However, Mila Kunis has admitted to following a low-calorie and cigarette-based diet, which she once disclosed but strongly advises against it.

‘Black Swan’ star Mila Kunis claimed she chain-smoked to shed pounds

In an interview with The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, Kunis disclosed that she followed a rigid diet and smoked “a lot” of cigarettes to lose weight for the film Black Swan.

Stern was shocked that Kunis had to lose weight for her role in Black Swan, dropping to about “95 pounds.” Although she didn’t starve herself, she had to subject herself to what Stern called “torture.”

The Bad Moms star explained, “I had to look skinny in order to look like a ballerina. You fake it. The best way to fake it is to, unfortunately, look like it.”

Kunis formerly smoked; therefore, she consumed few calories and smoked many cigarettes. She was on a diet of 1200 calories a day or fewer and smoked a lot.

“I used to be a smoker, so I smoked a lot of cigarettes and I ate like a limited amount of calories. It was a 1200 calories or less calorie diet a day,” Luckiest Girl Alive revealed.

For her portrayal of a cunning ballerina, Kunis, who has since given up smoking and told Stern that it was “the best decision I ever made in my life,” earned a Golden Globe nomination.

Kunis, who is most known for her roles in television and romantic comedies, was receiving notice during the awards season for the first time.

Even though the actress was so confident she would lose that she didn’t even write a speech, she told Stern that she loved every second of the contest.

Although Kunis hasn’t discussed her specific approach to quitting smoking, her two pregnancies within a short period likely made it easier for her to stop.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher’s smoky hook-up

The history of Kunis and Ashton Kutcher’s romance reads like a fairy tale, no joke. After meeting on the set of That ’70s Show, they first kissed in front of the camera.

Years later, a brief encounter resulted in a friendship with benefits, although they continued to be simply friends up until that point. Eventually, the pair married in July 2015 and are now parents to two children.

Kutcher was a smoker then, and Kunis had recently given up. But she still wanted to smoke, so she begged Kutcher for a favor.

“She wanted me to, like, shotgun a cigarette smoke so she could breathe it in. And gradually through the night, it got closer and closer and closer,” he opened up during an interview with Stern.

Did Mila Kunis turn to weed?

Many people enjoy discovering facts about famous people who show “they’re just like us.” Outlets are looking for old receipts to show that Kunis might have consumed weed to determine whether or not she did so.

The online news source hypothesized that because Kunis frequently sat in smoke rings when filming That ’70s Show, which the series was known for, it is reasonable to conclude that smoking also took place off-camera.

Kunis’s prior remarks about Miley Cyrus using a bong to smoke marijuana fueled further rumors.

“She was smoking some weed. Come on now; that was not no legal [substance]. Please,” the actress once disclosed on George Lopez’s show, Lopez Tonight, during an interview when the host playfully inquired whether Kunis had ever smoked salvia.

Many online reports suggested Kunis can distinguish between marijuana and salvia, implying the celebrity mom might be a “weed aficionado.”

Why Is Sami Zayn Banned from Saudi Arabia? Controversy Explained

Sami Zayn does not participate because of his religion, ethnicity, and beliefs against Saudi Arabia’s regime.

Why Is Sami Zayn Banned From Saudi Arabia? Controversy Explained

Sami Zayn is one of the prominent wrestlers in today’s generation. He is presently contracted to WWE, where he competes on the SmackDown brand.

Prior to joining WWE, Sebei competed for Ring of Honor under the ring name El Generico, portraying a Mexican luchador with the catchphrase “Olé!” From his debut in 2002 until 2013, he wrestled while masked.

He began performing without a mask after signing with WWE, eventually capturing the NXT Championship while in WWE’s developmental brand NXT and becoming a three-time Intercontinental Champion after being promoted to the main roster.

His fan popularity skyrocketed in 2022 because of his critically lauded work with The Bloodline. Despite being one of the beloved wrestlers in WWE, Zayn has not participated in any of the competitions held in Saudi Arabia.

This has led many to believe that he is banned from the country and ask —  “why is Sami Zayn not allowed in Saudi Arabia?” Here is everything we know about it.

Why is Sami Zayn banned from Saudi Arabia?

Following Vince McMahon’s return to the board of directors as Executive Chairman, WWE was shaken by reports of an impending sale. Initially, companies like NBC, Disney, and Liberty Media surfaced as prospective owners.

But later, Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund rose to the top of the rumor mill. This sparked some concerns about specific wrestlers quitting WWE if the purchase went through, including Zyan.

Zayn is not exactly banned from the country. However, he does not participate because of his religion, ethnicity, and beliefs against Saudi Arabia’s regime.

Zayn was born in Canada, making his nationality Canadian. However, his parents are Syrian immigrants who left the country in the 1970s and relocated to Canada.

As a result, Zayn is of Syrian ethnicity, and his religion is Muslim. He has always spoken in support of the Muslims and Syrian people who have been affected by the war.

Because of his Syrian ethnicity, Zayn has never wrestled in WWE events in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia’s government has been involved in Syria’s long-running civil conflict.

Saudi Arabia’s leaders most likely regard him as a problematic individual who does not share their principles and goals. In the case of Saudi Arabia’s purchase of WWE, especially if the state takes the firm private and exercises ultimate control over its activities, the two parties are unlikely to cohabit.

There are chances that, along with Zayn, his friend Kevin Owens would also depart from WWE. The two have been inseparable for most of their careers, which is why many fans feel Owens would follow Zayn out the door if Saudi Arabia took over.

Rumors debunked

WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque allegedly addressed reports of the business being sold to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund at a talent meeting with WWE Raw superstars on January 15, 2023.

Triple H conducted the meeting with veteran producer Kevin Dunn and WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Dan Ventrelle, where they debunked the rumors.

According to combat sports specialist Ariel Helwani, WWE did not agree to sell to Saudi Arabia or any other organization and was “still evaluating all alternatives.”

During the talent meeting, it was also reiterated that Triple H is “firmly in control of creative, and that talent relations are not changing.”

How old is Sami Zayn? His height, weight, and net worth

Zayn was born on July 12, 1984, in Laval, Canada. At the time of writing, his age is 38.

It is reported that his billed weight is 212lb or 96 kg. Similarly, his billed height is 6 ft 1 inch or 185 cm.

The net worth of Zayn is reported to be more than $2 million. He earns more than $200,000 per year, excluding Pay-Per-View profits, while he used to make more than $500,000 yearly.

He joined WWE in 2015, and his salary has fluctuated throughout the years. In 2018, it was reported that his salary was more than $500,000 per year.

The wrestler also makes money through his merchandise and YouTube page, where he routinely posts videos. He has endorsed products like WWE Shop, WWE 2K games, and others, which fueled his net worth.

Created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the show explores the disappearance of children in the fictional town of Winden and the aftermath that ensues as multiple generations and timelines are pulled into a web of secrets, conspiracies, and supernatural phenomena.

With its intricate storyline and complex characters, Dark quickly gained a cult following and has since become one of Netflix’s most popular original series.

The show has been widely praised for its writing, cinematography, and ability to blend science fiction, mystery, and psychological horror elements into a thought-provoking and deeply emotional narrative.

In this article, we’ll be setting aside all the debates and theories surrounding the show and diving into 10 of the most intriguing behind-the-scenes facts about this mysterious sci-fi masterpiece.

1. The Winden Cave is not real

One of the most iconic landmarks in the series Dark is the Winden Cave, which serves as the home to the time-travel wormhole in the show.

However, the cave is not real.

The outside portion of the cave, surrounded by rocks, was constructed from polystyrene between a forest between Tremsdorf and Saarmund in Brandenburg, south of Berlin. The show’s creators also used CGI to make the entrance of the cave even more menacing.

2. There was a team-building session for actors

The casting and connection between characters in Dark was widely praised. But did you know that the showrunners held a team-building session for the actors before filming started?

In 2016, the actors were sent to an adventure park to get to know each other better. This seemed to have worked, as the actors appeared comfortable with each other and gave compelling performances in the series.

3. The showrunners of ‘Dark’ are real-life couples

The showrunners of Dark are Baran bo Odar (creator/director) and Jantje Friese (creator/writer). But, what many don’t know is that they are also a real-life couple.

During a video interview in November 2017, they revealed that they have been together for 15 years and have a daughter together.

This long-standing relationship has allowed them to work together smoothly and effectively.

4. ‘Dark’ is the most popular TV show

Just before the final season of Dark was released, the show was ranked #1 on IMDb’s list of “Most Popular TV Shows.” The show’s creator, Baran bo Odar, announced this news on his Instagram account.

5. Over 438 days were spent filming the whole series

According to the show’s creator and director, Baran bo Odar, it took over 438 shooting days to complete all three seasons of Dark. The project involved 95 cast members and 549 employees.

The first day of filming for season 1 was on October 16, 2018, and the last day of filming for season 3 was on December 15, 2019.

6. The first season of ‘Dark’ was premiered at TIFF

The first season of Dark made its world premiere at the 42nd annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) from September 7-17, 2017.

Only the first two episodes were premiered at TIFF, with the full season being released on Netflix in December 2017.

7. ‘Dark’ won 7 Grimme-Preis Awards in 2018

After the success of the first season of “Dark,” the series won 7 Grimme-Preis Awards (the most prestigious awards for German television) in various categories in 2018. The awards recognized the actors Louis Hofmann, Dietrich Hollinderbäumer, and Oliver Masucci, among others.

8. The final scene was shot on the last day

According to Baran bo Odar, the creator and director of Dark, the final scene of the series was shot on the last day of filming.

This was done to ensure that the actors would have enough time to process their emotions and the impact of the series coming to an end.

In a farewell post on Instagram, Bo Odar wrote, “this crazy ride is over! It was an honor and a blast! Winden, we will miss you very much. Our hearts bleed…and now we rush to the editing rooms to deliver the final cycle on time for next year.”

9. The showrunner’s daughter inspired a character

In a video interview with HeyUGuys, Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese were asked how they came up with the idea for Dark. Bo Odar revealed that their daughter inspired one of the characters in the series.

“We have a daughter and she was 11 at that time and I always wanted to make a show for her, but then she turned 14 and she was like ‘I don’t want to watch a show that you made for me anymore,’” he said. “So, I thought, ‘Okay, let’s make a show for us then.’”

10. The series had a huge budget

According to sources, the budget for Dark was reported to be around €12 million, making it one of the most expensive German TV shows of all time. This allowed the showrunners to create a high-quality, visually stunning, and thought-provoking series that captivated audiences around the world.
