Xen Martin was diagnosed with autism when he was a kid.
Since then, his parents, Tisha Campbell Martin and Duane Martin, have dedicated their lives to helping their son and raising awareness about autism.
Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior. It is a spectrum disorder, which means that it affects individuals differently and to varying degrees.
Some people with autism may have exceptional abilities in certain areas, while others may require significant support in day-to-day life. Autism is usually diagnosed in early childhood and can often be managed with early intervention and ongoing support.
Xen was diagnosed with autism when he was 23 months old. Tisha and Duane made it a point to support their son, and to date, they spread awareness about the disorder.

Tisha sat down with the co-hosts of The Real in March 2020 and talked about her children. She mentioned how her children, particularly her autistic son Xen, are her entire world.
She bragged about Xen, who recently received a spot in his first college choice. Tisha said, holding back the tears, revealing that he was diagnosed with autism when he was approximately 23 months old.
Ever since being diagnosed, she has done her utmost to make him as independent of her as possible. Tisha stated that her youngest son Ezekiel had questioned Xen about why he wanted to stay with his mother despite the fact that he was already 18 years old.
The actress claimed that Xen had trouble speaking clearly when he was younger but that he is much better now. So, since he was a kid, Tisha has been preparing her son for life and college.
Zen is also appreciative of his parent’s efforts. He explained to his little brother, “You know, Zeke, here, we don’t have maids, we don’t have somebody cleaning up after us, and I can do all of this on my own.”
In an interview with Essence in October 2020, Tisha said that Xen claims to be no longer autistic. She credited the early diagnosis for helping her family to take care of Xen.
She said, “Just so I can give you a perspective, Xen was non-verbal; he would flap his arms and rock back and forth. He’s never been in a special needs class because I wanted him to model after typical kids and now he’s a typical kid.”
In the same interview, she explained how autism is not often discussed in the Black and Hispanic communities. She explained the reasons and said, “Some of it is cultural because we don’t want to believe that this is the kind of thing that can happen in the African-American or Latino community. There’s old-school thinking about it, but then there are also people in positions to help.”

She continued how it is necessary to diagnose the disorder early so that “ you can exercise the brain enough to try to get the child to their greatest potentiality.”
Tisha Cambell-Martin’s bio
Tisha is an American actress, singer, and dancer. She was born on October 13, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She began her career as a child performer, appearing in television commercials at the age of six. She later moved to New York City to pursue her passion for acting and dancing.

Britnee Kellogg is a talented country music singer who gained fame due to her appearance in seasons 11 and 12 of American Idol. Recently, she released the music video for ‘She’s Come a Long Way,’ which not only has good music but also good lyrics and a powerful message.

Kellogg collaborated with Autumn McEntire on this song, who ironically turned out to be the niece of the person she idolizes the most. The video then went on to introduce other powerful women, like 30-year-old Erica, a nurse who is in high demand. Then, Nikki was introduced, a 49-year-old layout engineer who survived a life-changing injury.

Other women included were 26-year-old business advisor and artist Kayla and 46-year-old Midwife Megan, who has delivered 500+ babies and has been clean and sober for 17 years. Next came Lisa, who is a special education teacher and a teen mother, followed by 37-year-old Mikeisha, who is a personal shopper, boutique owner, healthcare leader, and a wife and a mother.
The video also included 52-year-old Tracie, who is a property manager, and Slumberkins founders Kelly and Callie. The last person to be introduced was Angela, the co-founder of I Am Foster Kid.
Kellogg created this music video to honor how they’ve come a long way and still have much to do. She wanted to leave a very powerful message so that every woman is inspired by what they are doing.
