Mark Wiens is a Thailand-based American travel and culinary writer, vlogger, YouTube personality, television host, and restaurant. Being one of the well-known food vloggers and popular YouTubers, Wiens has over 9 million subscribers and over 1 billion views.

He identifies himself as someone who enjoys consuming food, exploring different places, writing online posts, hosting videos, and writing books. He enjoys traveling, eating, and telling others about his adventures.

Apart from all that, he is also a successful restauranteur. He established a Thai restaurant called Phed Mark that serves Pad Kaprao, a popular Thai comfort food.

Food is what he loves talking about, but we are here to tell you about his family, parents, siblings, and more.

Mark Wiens was born to a Chinese-German household

Wiens was born on February 26, 1986, into a family of Christian missionaries in Phoenix, Arizona, and has Germanic and Chinese ethnicity and worked in the restaurant industry.

During his childhood, he lived in France, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nairobi, Kenya, with his family. In 2008, Wiens earned a Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies from Arizona State University.

According to his mother, he has been eating rice since he was very young, although he doesn’t have many memories from his childhood. He doesn’t have any known brother, but he considers Joel Bruner, a fellow food blogger, and writer, to be like a brother to him, as mentioned by Genius celebs.

There is not much information on the internet about his father, mother, or siblings. The outlet also mentioned that he hinted about having a sister, but not much is known about her either.

Mark Wiens met his wife in Thailand

Following his graduation, he went on a trip to South America before securing a teaching job in the mountains of Patagonia, where he taught English.

While in Thailand as an English teacher, Wiens met his future wife, Ying. Ying and Wiens share a passion for exploring new places and trying different cuisines.

They found many similarities between each other, and a strong connection soon followed. The pair got married in July 2013, as mentioned by News Unzip. They tied the knot in Bangkok at a restaurant where they enjoyed a sumptuous spread of southern Thai cuisine.

Instead of a cake, they went for a giant durian, which is a tropical fruit known for its pungent smell and creamy texture.

He feels fortunate and grateful to have met Ying and is thankful that she agreed to become his spouse. The couple welcomed their son into the world in 2016.

“I have a family and they come with me, it involves a lot more planning the whole trip. Usually, I reach out on social media to people if they have any recommendations. I try to meet up with locals,” he shared with Entrepreneur.

Mark Wiens has a massive net worth

Wiens is widely recognized as one of the most popular food vloggers. As a student, he was inspired by the late Anthony Bourdain, whom he considered a trailblazer in the food and travel space.

In 2009, Wiens launched his food blog, Migrationology.com. Three years later, he released his first e-book, the Eating Thai Food Guide, and decided to leave his job to pursue blogging and creating YouTube videos full-time.

Through his vlogs, Wiens shares his culinary adventures in dozens of countries, earning him recognition as a Thai food expert by major publications such as New York Magazine, CNN, and Andrew Zimmern.

After all the success in the food vlogging and writing industry, the YouTuber has been able to amass a good amount of fortune. His estimated net worth is around $4 million, as mentioned by News Unzip.
