Wilde discussed her views on smoking in a 2012 interview with Global Grind T.V. when the host asked her what she would like to see Obama take on during his upcoming presidency.

The actress answered, “Drugs policy reform. As there are many people in prison for breaking law that shouldn’t exist. You known we shouldn’t be overcrowding prisons because of marijuana.”

She added, “I believe states are gradually realizing this and making decisions. We have seen in a few states that they have leagalised it for recreational use. I believe there is an opportunity to truly transform people’s perceptions of drug policy, as well as the way the justice and prison systems operate.” 

At that time, her ex-boyfriend, Jason Sudeikis, also joked he’d marry Wilde when weed was legal in every state. Sudeikis mentioned. “I feel like we are [good] in many, many ways. I mean, I believe we won’t get married until weed is legal in every state, gosh darn it!”
