However, in college, she decided that photography was not for her and that being an actress was her calling. “And then I got to college and asked myself, ‘Why are you being so stubborn about this?’ I wasn’t happy in the photo department so I transferred to the film studies department and then I took an acting class and fell in love with it.”
Clara graduated from New York University in 2017 and has embarked on her journey as an actress since then.

As said before, Clara has famous parents. Her father, Ewan, is best known for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and has received accolades like a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award.
Her mother, Mavrakis, was a French-Greek Jewish production designer. The couple met each other on the set of Kavanagh QC, in 1995.
They soon fell in love and got married. They welcomed two biological daughters, one of them being Clara and the other being Esther McGregor, who is also an actress and model like her sister and father.
Ewan and his wife adopted two children, Jamyan McGregor and Anouk McGregor. Clara’s adopted siblings are adored by her and her parents alike.
Ewan and Mavrakis sought adoption after meeting Jamyan at a Unicef children’s shelter during a 2004 cycling journey in Mongolia, which was recorded in the television series The Long Way Round.
Two years later, in April 2006, they adopted the then four-year-old, with Ewan admitting that he couldn’t get the young girl out of his mind. Similarly, Anouk was born in February 2011 and was adopted by her parents when she was four months old.

Clara is very fond of her siblings and is constantly supporting them. She is also very protective of her siblings and once said, “I hope they can grow up in a world where they don’t feel like they need to look a certain way or be anything that doesn’t feel natural to them.”
Clara’s parents got divorced when on January 19, 2018, after being separated since May 2017. Ewan filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, and it was finalized on August 13, 2020.
Clara did not take her parents’s separation well initially. When her father was caught making out with his current partner, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, in 2017, Clara was mad at Winstead.
At the time, her parents were not separated yet. Clara referred to Winstead as a “piece of trash” in a fan account-shared photo nine months after Ewan filed for divorce.

“And we also need to have older women on screen,” she added. The English producer was then questioned on whether older female actors should feel able to age naturally on screen if they wish, compared to feeling pressured into getting cosmetic procedures.
In reply, Jones first revealed that she was scared to death when it came to Botox or any kind of plastic surgery. She mentioned, “I’m frightened to death of any kind of Botox or anything like that.”
She then began to illustrate an example of the scrutiny that female stars are subjected to, which she once faced personally. She said, “My auntie was talking to me the other day. She said, ‘People always ask me, when did Suranne break her nose?’”

“I’ve never broken my nose, but because it’s not perfectly straight, or whatever… Anyway, character is about what shines from within. It’s not about fixing what’s outside,” she concluded her statement.
Similarly, in her 2019 feature with The Guardian, the Manchester native actress mentioned how she occasionally looks in the mirror and gets an uncanny sense that her late mother is staring back, saying Jones still has the same crooked nose and same big eyes like a pixie.
