He proposed to her, wanting to make her his wife, but Delgado laughed it off. “I’m married but I never got ‘married,’” he told Jimmy Fallon [via Hollywood].
“I’ve been living with my wife for 15 years, we have three kids, and we never got married properly. So I thought… they said it’s kind of cool, there’s this Elvis Presley thing (in Vegas), and I proposed… She said, ‘No, this is ridiculous, what are you thinking?’”
Regardless of not tying the knot officially, Moura is happily living with his spouse and children.
His family is very supportive of his career. To play the role of Escobar for Narcos, he had to learn how to speak in Spanish.
As a result, he went to Columbia, went to a school, and took classes for four years to be fluent in the language. His family joined him in Colombia, and his children also learned how to speak the language.
He told The New York Times how Brazil, the country he belongs to, was very culturally isolated in South America from other countries since they spoke Portuguese.

He said, “…it was a very deep cultural experience for me as a Brazilian, working with these actors from Latin America. I brought my kids to live there, and they learned Spanish, too. It was great.”
Overall, his spouse and children were there with him, as supportive as ever. Even to this day, Moura’s family moves where his career takes him. He has residences in Los Angeles, Salvador, and Rio de Janeiro. But he considers Bahia in Salvador, Brazil, to be his real home.

Learning a new language and moving to another country with his wife and children were not the only things Moura had to do to prepare for his role in Narcos.
He also had to go through intense weight gain and weight loss. Currently, Moura’s height in centimeters is 180, and 5’ 11” in feet.
It is reported that his weight is 75 kgs or 165 lbs. When Moura was chosen for Narcos to portray Escobar, he was a little slimmer than the drug lord. As a result, he had to gain around 40 pounds, which is approximately 18 kg.
As the role demanded, Moura gained the said weight. However, it took a mental and physical toll on him. So, he went through intense weight loss to get rid of Escobar’s impact on his body.
“It was time to let that character go and get rid of that body, get back to my former weight,” he told The New York Times. “That wasn’t my body. I was living in his body for two years, and I’m not only talking about the physical body but also the energy I was dealing with. It wasn’t nice at all.”
For weight loss, Moura did not say anything about workout routines. However, he mentioned that he opted for a Vegan diet, which helped him shed weight.
He told NPR, “Doing the vegan diet wasn’t only about losing weight, but getting rid of that character, you know, getting rid of that energy that I was having to live with for two years.”
Moura also reflected on how much he regretted his weight gain for the role. He noted that he would not take on roles that demanded a lot and impacted his physical or mental health.
“No, I wouldn’t change my body again. I meant that’s — I think that’s something for young people to do, you know. I can’t do that anymore. My cholesterol was — it was horrible,” he said.
What is ‘Narcos’ about?
Narcos is an American criminal drama television series developed and produced by Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard, and Doug Miro. Seasons 1 and 2 are set in Colombia and follow the narrative of Escobar, the head of the Medellín Cartel, who became a millionaire via cocaine manufacture and trafficking.
Escobar was a Colombian drug lord, narco-terrorist, and politician who founded and led the Medellín Cartel. Escobar, dubbed “the king of cocaine,” was one of history’s wealthiest criminals, with an estimated net worth of $30 billion at the time of his death — equivalent to $70 billion in 2022 — while his drug cartel monopolized the cocaine trade into the United States in the 1980s and early 1990s.
He started his journey to be a drug lord in the early 1970s and built an empire by the 1990s. He escaped and went into hiding in 1992 as officials sought to transport him to a more normal detention facility, sparking a worldwide manhunt.
The Medellín Cartel collapsed, and Escobar was assassinated by Colombian National Police in his birthplace of Columbia in 1993, only a day after turning 44.
Escobar’s legacy is still debated — while many condemn the brutal nature of his actions, he was viewed as a Robin Hood-like character by many in Colombia since he offered numerous benefits to the underprivileged.
His assassination was lamented, and more than 25,000 people attended his burial. Furthermore, his estate, Hacienda Nápoles, has been converted into a theme park. His life has inspired many movies, TV series, and even music, including Narcos.
