Jefferson’s writing career began with journalism. His initial gigs were writing for both Stereohyped and MollyGood.
He worked as an editor for Gawker for several years till it shuttered in 2016. He also contributed to outlets such as USA Today, Huffington Post, The Root, and The New York Times Magazine.

In recent years, Jefferson worked as a writer and supervising producer for the HBO limited series Station Eleven. He made his feature directorial debut with the satirical film American Fiction (2023) at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Jefferson, an acclaimed figure in the realm of television and film, has amassed a plethora of prestigious awards, spanning various categories and genres. His journey to acclaim includes notable triumphs such as the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series in 2020, earned for his contributions to The Good Place with the episode ‘Tinker, Tailor, Demon, Spy.’
His Writers Guild of America Award complemented this accolade for Drama Series, bestowed upon the captivating Succession. His narrative prowess was further highlighted at the Primetime Emmy Awards, where his exceptional writing for the groundbreaking series Watchmen, garnered him the distinguished Outstanding Writing Award for a Limited Series or Movie.
Beyond the small screen, Jefferson’s directorial debut made waves at esteemed film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Mill Valley Film Festival, where he secured multiple awards for his breakthrough in directing American Fiction.
The pinnacle of his career arrived in 2024 with resounding victories at the Academy Awards, British Academy Film Awards, and Critics’ Choice Movie Award, all for Best Adapted Screenplay, solidifying his status as a masterful storyteller across mediums.
Additionally, his prowess extended to the Black Reel Awards, where he clinched multiple honors, including Outstanding Film, Director, Emerging Director, Screenplay, and First Screenplay, showcasing his multifaceted talent and indelible impact on the entertainment industry.
To date, American Fiction, his directorial debut, is his best work so far. Based on Percival Everett’s 2001 novel Erasure, it portrays a disillusioned novelist-professor who produces an outrageous satire of conventional “Black” works, only to have it misinterpreted by the liberal elite as serious literature and published to huge sales and critical acclaim.
The cast includes Jeffrey Wright, Tracee Ellis Ross, Issa Rae, Sterling K. Brown, John Ortiz, Erika Alexander, Leslie Uggams, Adam Brody, and Keith David.
It debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2023, and received the People’s Choice Award. Amazon MGM Studios released it in select theaters on December 15, 2023, followed by an expanded release on December 22, 2023.
It earned favorable reviews and made $22.5 million. It was selected as one of the best ten films of 2023 by the American Film Institute and won several awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay at the 77th British Academy Film Awards.
At the 96th Academy Awards, the film got five nominations, including Best Picture, with Jefferson taking the Best Adapted Screenplay. He stated that he felt “so much joy” standing on stage winning the prize, exactly as he did when filming American Fiction.
“I want other people to experience that joy, and they’re out there,” he explained. “They just want a shot, and we can give them one. This has changed my life. Thank you all who worked on this movie for trusting a 40-year-old Black guy who’s never directed anything before,” he said while receiving his first Oscars.
American Fiction was nominated alongside Barbie, Oppenheimer, Poor Things, and The Zone of Interest.

Nicholas Hoult’s Family Life — Know His Parents and Siblings
He was raised in a supportive and down-to-earth household.

With a career spanning over two decades, Nicholas Hoult has grown from a promising child actor into one of the most versatile performers in Hollywood. He first captured hearts as the awkward yet lovable Marcus in About a Boy (2002), acting opposite Hugh Grant.
Since then, he has starred in a wide range of roles — from the intelligent Beast in the X-Men film series to the eccentric Emperor Peter III in Hulu’s The Great, the latter role earning him Golden Globe nominations.
With recent appearances in The Menu, Renfield, and the upcoming Juror #2 directed by Clint Eastwood, Hoult continues to build a dynamic portfolio. Moreover, he can now be seen playing the evil genius Lex Luthor in DC’s Superman, which was released on July 11, 2025.
While many admire his on-screen range, fans are equally curious about his life behind the camera — especially his parents and siblings, who helped shape the man and actor he is today. So, let’s dive deep into his family life.
Nicholas Hoult’s Parents Played a Vital Role in His Upbringing
Born on December 7, 1989, in Wokingham, Berkshire, England, Nicholas Caradoc Hoult was raised in a supportive and down-to-earth household. His parents were not involved in the entertainment industry, but they encouraged creativity and balance early on.
His mother, Glenis Hoult, is a former piano teacher, whose love for the arts likely helped foster Nicholas’s early interest in performance. She would often take her children to local theatre shows, sparking their imagination and appreciation for the stage.
His father, Roger Hoult, worked as a British Airways pilot, offering disciplined influence in Nicholas’s life. Though Roger wasn’t involved in the creative world, his structured profession and grounded perspective helped give Nicholas a well-rounded upbringing.
He has frequently expressed gratitude toward his parents for keeping him grounded. Despite achieving fame at a young age, they ensured he maintained a normal childhood. Instead of moving to Hollywood, the family stayed in England and allowed him to grow up with relative stability.
According to reports, Nicholas’ ethnicity is English. And while his middle name, Caradoc, is Welsh and translates to “the beloved one,” it is actually unknown if the actor has any Welsh ancestry.
Meet Nicholas Hoult’s Siblings
Nicholas isn’t the only artistic soul in the Hoult family. He grew up with three siblings — two sisters and one brother — and has often described his childhood as energetic, fun, and filled with imaginative play.

His older sister, Rosanna Hoult (b. 1984), has made a name for herself in the acting world as well. With appearances in projects like Captain America: The First Avenger, The Lobster, and the BBC series Holby City, she has steadily carved out her own space in the industry.
The two siblings even appeared together at the premiere of Kill Your Friends at Picturehouse Central in London, showcasing their shared passion for storytelling and film. Both of them co-starred in the film.
His other sister, Clarista Hoult (b. 1992), has also dabbled in acting. While she maintains a more private life, she has worked on smaller projects, further highlighting the family’s collective love for the arts. As per her IMDb profile, she has 14 acting credits as of July 2025.
Growing up with older sisters meant Nicholas was often the target of harmless sibling antics. In past interviews, he recalled being dressed up in costumes and wigs by his sisters, which, far from discouraging him, actually encouraged his love for performance. He once joked that the early “role play” at home could’ve been his unofficial acting training.
While Nicholas and his sisters have pursued careers in the public spotlight, his brother, James Hoult (b. 1977), has chosen a different path entirely. Not much is publicly known about him, as he stays completely out of the media and entertainment world.
Unlike his siblings, he has maintained a low profile and avoids public appearances, preferring a more private lifestyle. Despite this difference, Nicholas has spoken fondly of all his siblings and the bond among them remains strong.

David Corenswet is currently enjoying the run of his life as Superman — released on July 11, 2025 — is soaring through the box office worldwide. In the newly released DC film, he plays the role of the beloved superhero Superman, otherwise known as Clark Kent.
The sudden rise in his popularity has resulted in people being eager to learn more about different aspects of his life. As Kent in Superman has a romantic involvement with Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane, the spotlight is primarily on Corenswet’s dating life.
Many have also wondered about the 32-year-old actor’s sexuality and have gone on to search “Is David Corenswet gay?” mainly because they believed his character of Superman is a gay allegory, as Kent has a secret identity and lives a double life and is an outsider.
Another reason for questioning his sexuality was his breakout role as a queer high school student, River Barkley, in the 2019 TV series The Politician. So, is there any truth to people’s speculations? Is David Corenswet gay?
The answer is no. The University of Pennsylvania graduate is not gay, and his sexual orientation is straight. Not only that, Corenswet is a happily married man who has been in a marital relationship with his wife since 2023.
David Corenswet is married to Julia Best Warner
As previously mentioned, Corenswet is a married man who shared the wedding vows with his wife in March 2023. The Jewish actor recently revealed to People Magazine that he first met Warner, 34, back in his hometown when both of them were teenagers.
He stated that they were in the same Pennsylvania summer theater program, and that’s where he met his future wife. He didn’t divulge much about their dating life and relationship; however, he did mention that it was a “slow burn” romance.
As for their wedding, the intimate ceremony took place in New Orleans at the Immaculate Conception church — one of the city’s historic Jesuit houses of worship — because Warner is Catholic.

As per Julie Vanderbrook, the venue’s longtime wedding coordinator, Corenswet and Warner’s wedding was the very first time that the church hosted a program which included a chuppah, or Jewish wedding canopy. Likewise, other Jewish rituals were combined with Catholic ones.
Vanderbrook stated, “The bride and groom were just so determined to intersperse the Jewish traditions with the Catholic traditions, which to me just enhanced the beauty and the strength of both faiths. I felt I got to know [the Corenswet family] pretty well, because they were delightful people.”
Months after their wedding, in early 2024, the married couple welcomed their first child, a daughter whose name isn’t revealed by the duo. This was around the same time he began filming Superman.
Speaking on being a father, he told People that it comes naturally. He said, “I feel like I’ve been a dad for a long time, and just waiting for a kid to prove it. My dad was an enthusiastic father and stayed home with my sister for a period when she was very little.”
“[My father] was very good with kids. And so I think I just inherited that. I liked being a camp counselor, and I have terrible jokes that nobody laughs at,” he added. As of now, the actor and his wife have moved back to Pennsylvania with their daughter to be near his family.
Apart from dating his actor wife and marrying her, Corenswet doesn’t seem to be involved in any romantic relationships. As he previously stated, the duo met in their teens; so Warner can be regarded as the love of Corenswet’s life.
