“She doesn’t know a whole lot about hockey. She grew up in a small town in an American home so hockey wasn’t exactly one of the big sports. I don’t know… I think that’s why I like her so much,” he said.
Angela had just turned 18 years old when she met Carey through a mutual acquaintance. At the time, Carey was 17 years old, making his and his wife’s age difference of less than a year.
They were set up on a blind date by Angela’s friend, who was dating Carey’s roommate at the time. Angela said that she was attracted to Carey when she first met him.
She told Montreal Gazette, “He was kind of the first Canadian I ever met, which might sound funny,” she said. “But he had this accent and he was very good-looking, cute. He was different from all the guys back home, which was intriguing.”
She also confessed that she did not know anything about hockey before meeting her partner. She said, “We did have a junior team in my hometown, so I’d been to a few games. But it was definitely a learning process when I started dating Carey and it still is a learning process. I didn’t really fully grasp the game until just this [2020] season.”
She admired that her husband was humble about his career. She would watch him play a couple of games of hockey and wasn’t impressed.
Carey was replaced his first time out. He wasn’t any better the second time around.
However, her perspective changed when she learned that Carey was among the most promising young ice hockey players. Soon, she fell in love, and the two got serious with their relationship.
The duo got married on August 24, 2013, in Benton City, Washington, near Angela’s hometown of Kennewick. It has been almost a decade since the couple got married, yet the love and admiration between the two is not lost.

Carey and his wife have three children: two daughters and a son. In October 2015, Angela and Carey announced they were expecting their first child.
However, before the couple could announce their pregnancy to their friends and family, it was leaked. As a result, Angela was mad when both blogger 25 Stanley and TSN’s John Lu publicized her pregnancy.

Announcing you are going to be parents for the first time is literally a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you took away from us… But why would a first-time mother and father want to be the ones to announce this big news, when heartless media can do it for you?!”
Both 25 Stanley and John Lu apologized to Angela. Angela then took down the rant and said that she made the blog out of frustration.
“My post seemed to encourage a lot of online bullying, and name-calling. When my post was indeed harsh, my intention was never to spread hate. Which I am afraid it did. Not only to the reporters but to myself as well,” she clarified.
Angela and Carey welcomed their daughter, Liv, in May 2016. Two years later, the pair were blessed with their second child, Millie.
In June 2020, they revealed that they were pregnant once again. Four months later, in October 2020, they welcomed their third baby, Lincoln.
