He is a brother to his five siblings- brother Jitu Singh and sister Neha Singh. The names of the other siblings are unknown.

The cricketer comes from a modest family background. His childhood was spent living in a two-room setup inside a gas cylinder warehouse for a family of nine. His father worked as an LPG gas delivery man with a salary of 12000 per month.

His eldest brother worked as a rickshaw driver. Also, his other brothers work at a coaching center in Aligarh. The family had been struggling economically.

Even Singh did the job of cleaning at the coaching center, but he decided to grind for his cricket dream instead of the cleaning job.

“He at least had a goal and a certain madness for something,” Khanchandra told The Week. “Of course, I was not too happy to learn that cricket was pulling Rinku in, but when I saw that he was getting paid for playing, I knew it was serious.”

Singh has been a cricket enthusiast since his childhood. He was not so much dedicated to his studies. He had been a student of Aligarh Modern Convent School, a state board school. He was just a thirteen-year-old student when he decided to pursue cricket seriously.

His life-changer match was in an inter-school U14 T20 tournament in Aligarh. Singh played three games in the following tournament. He scored fifty in each match and was declared the player of the match. His talent got noticed by the selector of Uttar Pradesh.

Soon, he made it to the U16 and U19 teams and the Ranji team, and ultimately, his IPL journey began.

Singh’s family has moved to a three-storied house near the old house, but his parents still live in the same ramshackle house.

“Rinku asked me to leave this job and join them in the new house,” said Khanchandra. “But the problem is, if I leave this job, what will I do? I will be good for nothing. Fortunately, we all have enough money and luxury. But, in the end, how can we forget where we come from?”
