Jake Paul and Mike Tyson want their upcoming boxing bout to be sanctioned as a professional bout in Dallas, Texas. Paul’s manager laughed off claims that the two would wear headgear. The fight is set to be streamed live on Netflix and is scheduled for July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

However, despite the fanfare surrounding the bout, boxer Chisora has made claims about the fight that might change people’s perceptions.

Talking with the reporter, Chisora said, “I know for a fact they are using 18oz gloves and head guards. So we’re watching a sparring match. It’s a joke. You think I’m paying to watch that?” As per the report, the rules of the fight have not yet been officially confirmed.

Tyson said about the fight with the reporter, “I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul. He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT.

“It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”

No specific details have yet been released by Netflix or either fighter ahead of the July 20 bout, with the finer details seemingly still being discussed.

Paul has a 9-1 record in professional boxing, with his only loss coming to Tommy Fury last year. In his nine wins, he has some impressive knockouts to his resume, including over Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and professional boxers Andre August and Ryan Bourland.

Social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul will fight former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on July 20 at AT&T Stadium, Netflix announced.

The streaming platform will provide live coverage of the bout between 27-year-old Paul and 57-year-old Tyson, who hasn’t fought since he took on Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition in November 2020. Paul and Tyson will be the main event of the first combat sports show for Netflix in its recent forays into live sports production.

Tyson posts workout videos on social media in which he looks sharp in training, but boxing is dangerous at any age. The California State Athletic Commission required his bout against Jones to be an exhibition — essentially a lively sparring session.

Paul built a huge fan following as a YouTube influencer before he got recognition as a professional boxer for the last four years. He has won nine out of 10 fights with six knockouts against mostly undistinguished opponents, including several mixed martial artists and being a  YouTuber.

 Paul made his boxing debut on January 30, 2020, against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib (real name Ali Loui Al-Fakhri) in Miami, Florida. He won the fight via TKO in the first round, setting the stage for his future in boxing.

His next fight took place on November 28, 2020, against former NBA player Nate Robinson. The event was notable for being the undercard of the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. exhibition match. He won the fight by KO in the second round, further boosting his profile in the boxing world.

On April 17, 2021, he fought his first professional fighter, retired MMA fighter Ben Askren. Despite Askren’s limited boxing skills, the matchup garnered significant attention. He won the fight via a first-round TKO, raising questions about his ability to compete against more experienced boxers.

 He faced former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in two matches. The first took place on August 29, 2021, which he won by split decision after a closely fought match. They had a rematch on December 18, 2021, after Tommy Fury, Paul’s initially scheduled opponent, withdrew due to medical issues. He won the rematch by knocking out Woodley in the sixth round, marking a significant victory in his boxing career.

He lost his first-ever boxing match against the amateur boxer Fury in a split decision. After the loss, he made a comeback against veteran UFC legend Nate Diaz.
