Majors is an American actor who rose to popularity for his roles in the dramas The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019), Da 5 Bloods (2020), and the HBO horror series Lovecraft Country (2020).

He amassed a massive fanbase after he played Kang the Conqueror in the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), as well as various versions of the character in the Disney+ series Loki (2021-2023) as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The image and legacy he was building for himself came crumbling down in March 2023 by his ex-girlfriend. Recently, it was revealed that he allegedly strangled Jabbari when they were in a relationship.

Jonathan Majors strangled his ex-girlfriend

According to documents obtained by Rolling Stone, the professional dancer filed the lawsuit in New York’s Southern District on March 19, 2024, claiming assault, defamation, and battery, as well as providing additional examples of how her ex allegedly abused her during their two-year relationship from August 2021 to early 2023.

Jabbari described a horrific fight on September 20, 2022, alleging she had a head injury after the actor got physically hostile after a night out with a friend.

According to the documents, Jabbari began shouting for help but Majors “forcefully grabbed” her and placed her on a headlock. He also put his hands over her mouth so no one would hear her shouting for help.

Majors reportedly brought his former girlfriend inside their home where he repeatedly hit her “head against the marble floor while strangling her until she felt she could no longer breathe.”

According to the records, Majors reportedly threatened to kill his then-girlfriend. Majors reportedly left Jabbari unable to move due to “a constant ringing headache,” but threatened to commit suicide if she went to the hospital. Aside from the head damage, Jabbari also suffered bruising on her backside.

The records stated that Jabbari promised not to seek medical treatment, texting Majors that she would “not go to the doctor if you don’t feel safe with me doing so, or don’t trust me to. I promise I would never mention you but I understand your fear.”

Another important allegation was cited in the complaint occurred in June 2022. Majors allegedly grew upset while the two were in Los Angeles, pinning Jabbari’s arms back and throwing her into a wall, resulting in another head injury.

At the time of writing, Majors has still not commented on the new allegations that have surfaced.

Jonathan Majors’s trial

Majors started dating British dancer Jabbari in August 2021, after meeting her on the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in London. The couple split up in March 2023, citing a string of alleged domestic abuse events during their partnership.

On March 25, 2023, Majors called 911 to request medical aid at his New York home, claiming he had gotten home and discovered his former girlfriend unresponsive. Majors also claimed to have spent the night in a motel.

Majors was later arrested on assault, strangulation, and harassment charges stemming from a domestic dispute with Jabbari the night before, who sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition. He was freed from detention the same day, and his spokeswoman refuted the claims, claiming Majors had done nothing wrong.

Majors appeared in New York City Criminal Court on March 26, 2023, to face the allegations. The assault trial commenced on November 29, 2023, after Majors pleaded not guilty to the assault and harassment charges.

On December 5, 2023, Jabbari testified and produced evidence in court to support the prosecution’s assertion that Majors attacked her. On December 11, 2023, Chloe Zoller, one of the strangers who saw Jabbari following the alleged attack, testified that Jabbari was visibly upset when she met her outdoors, although she did not observe any injuries on Jabbari at the time.

Another video surfaced showing Majors ranting at his ex-girlfriend, praising himself as a great man, comparing himself to Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Obama, and demanding she behave like Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama.

On December 13, 2023, the court presiding over the case revealed important evidence to the public, including CCTV footage of the alleged attack and Jabbari chasing Majors across many blocks in New York City.

On December 18, 2023, Majors was found guilty of one count of third-degree reckless assault and a violation of harassment charge. He was acquitted of another assault allegation as well as aggravated harassment. His sentencing date was set for February 6, 2024.

However, due to a plethora of post-conviction petitions submitted by Majors’ counsel, the anticipated sentence date was postponed to April 8, 2024.
