Wolfgang Van Halen found getting ready for the star-studded 96th Academy Awards more stressful than his own wedding.

Van Halen performed the hit Barbie anthem ‘I’m Just Ken’ on stage at the prestigious award show alongside Barbie star Ryan Gosling, who was also nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the movie, and his fellow guitarist Slash. The song itself was nominated for Best Original Song.

But before Van Halen took the stage, he and his wife, Andraia Allsop, had a brief conversation with People Magazine. The former compared getting ready for the Oscars to getting married and said that prepping for the Oscars was more stressful.

Allsop was the first to speak. She mentioned that the lead-up to Hollywood’s biggest night felt like she and Wolfgang were getting ready for their wedding. She stated, “It actually felt like we were getting ready for our wedding today.”

Her musician husband laughingly agreed with his wife’s statement and mentioned that getting ready for the Academy Awards was more stressful. His statement read, “I think it was more stressful getting ready today.”

The Mammoth WVH frontman later described attending the 96th Academy Awards as a magical night and that he was happy to be there. He stated, “It’s a magical night. I’m happy to be here, very happy to be part of this and support my buddy Mark.”

Van Halen’s mother, Valerie Bertinelli, also attended the prestigious award show with the musician and his wife. On the red carpet, Bertinelli expressed her pride and excitement about her son’s Oscars moment.

Bertinelli stated, “I’m excited! I’m here to support Wolfie, the Barbie movie, because Wolfie’s all throughout it. He did a lot of work with [soundtrack producer] Mark [Ronson] for two days, and I’m really proud of him so I want to support him.”

“And the movie was kickass, so we’re just going to say that. It’s so fun because I watch the movie and I hear Wolfie all throughout the chase scene, I hear Wolfie all throughout the Ken fight scene, and it’s just like, ‘That’s my boy!’” she concluded her statement.

During the same event, Van Halen and his wife were also asked about their relationship. In reply, the musician mentioned that things have been the same between them, which is good because “it shouldn’t be any different if you find the right person.”

Coming over to the duo’s wedding, which, as per Van Halen, wasn’t as stressful enough as the Oscars, they walked down the aisle and shared the wedding vows in a small and intimate wedding ceremony held at their Los Angeles residence in front of 90 guests.

To elaborate on their relationship, Van Halen and Allsop officially began dating on October 15, 2015. They first connected via Instagram, where the musician slid into her DMs. They started talking, exchanged phone numbers, and eventually began dating.

After being in a romantic relationship for over six years, he finally decided to take their relationship to a new level and proposed to her. She said yes, and they got engaged. He shared the news of their engagement on July 6, 2022, via his Instagram handle.

Finally, on October 25, 2023, exactly eight years after they officially started dating, Van Halen and Allsop walked down the aisle and shared their wedding vows. As mentioned earlier, the ceremony was intimate and only attended by 90 close ones.

The now-married couple’s wedding ceremony took place inside their living room, where they could “have privacy and just have our moment together with everyone.” Afterward, the reception was held outside in the backyard with string lights and flowers.

Allsop stated, “Our goal was just to bring all of our closest family and friends together. The past few years, not only with the world, but also with personal tragedies, haven’t been the easiest, but we wanted to create this wedding as a celebration not only just for us to get married but a celebration for the people we love.”

As for the wedding dress, the 32-year-old California native donned a custom three-piece black suit. On the other hand, the bride looked beautiful in an Eva Lendel dress featuring a V-neck and sheer long sleeves with lace detail.
