Rebel Wilson is coming out with her memoir, Rebel Rising.

In her book, she will talk about her rise to fame with Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids and how her journey in Hollywood has been by far. Alongside this, she will get in-depth about her personal life — before and after fame — talking about the most pressing issues of her life.

She is also set to expose people in her book.

In March 2024, Wilson mentioned in a video shared on Instagram how there was a chapter dedicated to a man she worked with. She noted that she considered the person to be a “massive [expletive].”

She said, “When I first came to Hollywood, people were like, ‘Yeah, I have a no-a-holes policy that means, like, I don’t work with [expletive].’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I mean, that sounds sensible, logical.’”

But later, she came to know that it simply meant older people in the industry. Wilson said that in Chapter 23 of her book, she will be talking about the guy who she worked with and considered to be the “massive [expletive].”

However, she had not named the person. This led many to speculate about who Wilson was talking about.

The actress also mentioned how the person had hired a crisis PR team and was sending her threats after she revealed that they would be exposed in one of the chapters of her memoir. “He’s trying to stop press coming out about my new book,” she wrote. “But the book WILL come out and you will all know the truth.”

However, Wilson did not wait for her book to be released to expose the person.

She did so on her Instagram Stories. On March 25, 2024, she posted a story and claimed that it was Sacha Baron Cohen who she was referring to.

“I will not be bullied or silenced by high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers. The “asshole” that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

Wilson and Baron Cohen featured as husband and wife in Grimsby, and Wilson has previously recounted her experiences filming the film, claiming that Baron Cohen pressured her to strip naked before hiring a body duplicate when she refused.

When Grimsby was in post-production, she talked about it on the Kyle and Jackie O radio program in Australia in 2014. She claimed that Baron Cohen was so insistent that she had to threaten him to call their joint agency to tell them how much he was harassing her.

Rebel Wilson reveals Sacha Baron Cohen has hired a crisis PR manager and lawyer to try and stop the release of her memoir:

She said, “Every day he’s like, ‘Just go naked, it will be funny. Remember in Borat when I did that naked scene? It was hilarious.’ On the last day, I thought I’d obviously won the argument and he got a body double to do the naked scene.”

Wilson further said that Baron Cohen wanted her to insert her finger up his bottom in the last session. She told him it was not in the script, but Baron Cohen was very insistent.

“And he’s like, ‘Look, I’ll just pull down my pants, you just stick your finger up my butt, it’ll be a really funny bit.’” he allegedly told her. Because of how much he was pressuring her, Wilson came to a compromise and slapped him once on her butt.

As soon as Wilson posted her Instagram story, it went viral, and many people accused Baron Cohen of being inappropriate. As a result, the actor’s representatives gave the same statement to different news sources.

They said, “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during, and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”

At the time of writing, Baron Cohen did not address the situation himself. Wilson’s memoir, Rebel Rising, comes out April 2, 2024, via Simon & Schuster.
