Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel have been married for eight years!

To mark the special occasion, the duo took to Instagram to celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary. Siegel uploaded a photo of the duo from the set of the 2016 movie Hush.

The movie was directed by Flanagan, which he co-wrote with his wife. In the captions, Siegel wrote, “Marry your best friend, the rest is confetti. Happy anniversary @flanaganfilm.”

Flanagan did the same and posted three pictures with his wife. In the captions, he penned that he got married to his best friend eight years ago.

He wrote, “Eight years ago today I married my best friend. Thank you @katesiegelofficial for being the collaboration of my life.”

The couple were met with congratulatory comments, wishing them the best for their relationship on their eighth wedding anniversary. Actor Aaron Paul wrote, “Happy anniversary you two love birds,” with a red heart emoji.

Similarly, Mark Hamil, who worked with the couple on The Fall of the House of Usher, commented, “Congratulations to one of the most delightful young couples I know. Look like it could be a keeper!, mh”

All in all, people were as happy for the couple as they were on their wedding anniversary.

Talking about their wedding, Flanagan tied the knot with his wife on February 5, 2016. The two dated for around three years before getting married.

Flanagan and Siegel met while working on the 2013 horror film Oculus. Flanagan created and directed the film, which was his first theatrical release.

In the film, Siegel portrayed the role of Marisol, a phantom woman who stalks the protagonists. Soon after the movie, their love blossomed, and the duo started dating.

The pair dated for several years before getting married in early 2016. Despite keeping things low-key, they were referred to as “newlyweds” in a joint interview with Dread Central at SXSW in March 2016.

Not much is known about their wedding ceremony, and there is just a photo on the internet related to their marriage. The couple tied the knot at a beach wedding where Siegel wore an off-shoulder white wedding dress with minimal makeup and red lipstick.

She wore red flowers in her hair, which was designed in a half-up-do style. Flanagan wore a beige suit with a boutonniere made of the same flowers his wife donned.

The pair have two children together. Their son Cody was born in November 2016, a couple of months after their wedding ceremony.

Their daughter, Theodora, arrived in 2018. Flanagan and his wife were inspired by Shirley Jackson’s work The Haunting of Hill House and, therefore, chose to name their daughter after a character from the book.

Siegel was pregnant during the filming of the Netflix adaptation of the novel, and Flanagan was in the director’s seat when the idea hit them.

Before Siegel, Flanagan was in a relationship with Courtney Bell and had a son, Rigby Flanagan-Bell, with her.

Flanagan’s relationship with his wife, Siegel, is one of a kind. The two are not only best friends or partners who have been married for years but also business collaborators.

Siegel mostly works on projects her husband directs or writes. This comes off as no surprise to the fans and followers of the couple, who met while working on a horror movie.

To date, the couple often work together on the same genre. As said before, the two co-wrote the 2016 film Hush, in which Siegel stars and Flanagan directs. Siegel also appeared in Ouija: Origin of Evil later in 2016 and Gerald’s Game in 2017 —  both of which were directed by her husband.

Furthermore, Siegel is a key member of the ensemble cast that has appeared in practically all of Flanagan’s Netflix films. Siegel played Theodora, the middle Crain sibling, in The Haunting of Hill House in 2018 and then returned to play the haunting Viola Willoughby in the anthology’s next installment, 2020’s The Haunting of Bly Manor.

In 2021, she starred in Midnight Mass as Erin Greene, and in 2023, she is one of several siblings, Camille L’Espanaye, in The Fall of the House of Usher. Flanagan has often noted how much he loves working with his wife.

Looking at their relationship now, it won’t be a surprise if the husband-wife duo continues to collaborate on various projects of the horror genre in the near future.
