DeuxMoi has been updating Normani’s fans about her debut album on their Instagram Stories. They have been revealing the updates they get from anonymous sources.

Recently, they discussed the album again while talking about its release date. Initially, a source confirmed that the new album was named The Butterfly Effect, and the date of release had not been revealed.

However, they speculated that it would be released in May 2023. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

The recent update claimed that The Butterfly Effect was pushed to August 2023, so it would most likely be released then. On the other hand, the source reported that there were possibilities that the date would get pushed again.

At the time of writing, Normani has not talked about her new album. But it seems like she will start revealing and talking about The Butterfly Effect soon.

This is because she has been working with Bose regarding her upcoming projects. On June 18, 2023, they uploaded a video titled ‘Creative Process & Upcoming Album’ where Normani talked about how she focuses on lyricism and melodies.

Similarly, she claimed that she was a natural-born dancer, which inspired the type of music she made. Other than this, Normani has given no update about her new album.

Why has Normani not released her album yet?

There might be various reasons behind Normani not releasing her debut album. However, one of the reasons is her parents.

Her mother was diagnosed with cancer. She initially had breast cancer when the singer was five, and it remissioned in 2020.

Normani was already dealing with her mother’s cancer diagnosis when her father was stricken with the same disease. Regardless, her parents have been very supportive of her career and encouraged her to pursue her dreams.

Although Normani did not specifically state that her father’s sickness drove her to take a break from music and focus on her parents’ care, she did say that it helped her put things into perspective.

Talking to Billboard, she confessed that she had been “intentional” with her time. She said, “Spending a lot more time with myself and getting to know myself and doing things anyway — even if I’m afraid.”

“I can wholeheartedly say that through a lot of my career, I know that I’ve been afraid,” she added. “And that’s a vulnerable moment for me to even be honest with you and express, but yeah, just leaning into it and doing it anyway and knowing that God has a plan and it’s all going to work for my good.”

In 2022, Normani claimed that her new album would be worth the wait. She told Bustle, “I had a lot of artist development, which I feel like people don’t take seriously. They throw artists on stage completely unprepared.”

“And for me, that mentality was very important. Now, I’ve also been very critical on myself. So I think it’s been a combination of things, but it’s definitely going to be worth the wait,” she added.
