‘High Desert’ Star Harlow Jane Once Rebelled against Following Parents’ Career Path

High Desert actress Harlow Jane, daughter of renowned actors Patricia Arquette and Thomas Jane, has had a journey of self-discovery when it comes to following in her parents’ career path. 

At first, Harlow rebelled against the idea, expressing her desire to become a lawyer during her early school years during an interview with People.

She said, “I definitely rebelled against it for as long as I could. I remember in first or second grade, we had a career person come to school and I told them that I wanted to be a lawyer.”

However, her perspective shifted when she attended a boarding school with a strong emphasis on the arts and said that she was compelled to act because it was in her blood.

As the actress immersed herself in the creative environment, the realization struck her that she couldn’t imagine a life without pursuing acting. 

She reflected on that pivotal moment, saying, “I can’t live a lie of wanting to be anything else.” 

Harlow’s decision to embrace acting is not surprising, given her parents’ remarkable careers and accomplishments. 

Her mother has received accolades such as an Oscar, multiple Golden Globe Awards, and Emmy Awards for her exceptional performances in movies like Boyhood and TV shows like Medium and The Act. 

On the other hand, her father has garnered recognition for his work in projects like Hung, The Punisher, and The Expanse, earning him three Golden Globe nominations.

However, she candidly admitted that when she was younger, the day-to-day experience of being in the entertainment industry didn’t excite her.

As a teenager going through life stages, she found her parents’ profession mundane. She described feeling “bored” while on set, as her parent’s work seemed uninteresting at the time. 

But secretly, she couldn’t help but love aspects of the industry, such as being in the makeup trailer, observing the director’s work, and watching scenes on the screens.

In hindsight, Harlow acknowledged feeling fortunate to have grown up in a family of artists. Surrounded by eccentric personalities and a creative atmosphere, she believed that being exposed to art and creativity from a young age has shaped her perspective. 

She also revealed her father’s excitement about her decision to pursue acting professionally, despite his scientific background. 

Coming from a family of scientists, Thomas is thrilled to have a daughter who shares his passion for the arts.

As per her IMDb profile, Harlow, whose birth name is Harlow Olivia Calliope Jane, was born on February 2003 making her 20 years old as of this writing. 

Only after three years of her birth, her parents married on June 25, 2006, at the Palazzo Contarini in Venice, Italy. 

However, Arquette and Thomas’ relationship ended on July 1, 2011, but remained co-parents to raise their daughter, Harlow.

Harlow also has a half-sibling, a brother named Enzo Rossi, who was born on January 3, 1989, from her mother’s previous relationship with Paul Rossi.

Harlow Jane’s career

Not much information is available regarding Harlow’s career, including when she professionally started acting.
