Eva Green ‘Very Happy’ to Have Supported Johnny Depp during Trial against Amber Heard

In a recent interview with Télé 7 Jours on December 4, 2023, famous actress Eva Green opened up about her support for Johnny Depp during his legal battle against Amber Heard. 

The 43-year-old actress, who is set to star in the upcoming film The Three Musketeers: Milady directed by Martin Bourboulon, expressed her solidarity with Depp without hesitation. 

Reflecting on her role in the film and her broader career, Green also spoke candidly about her decision to stand by Depp, stating, “I protect the people I love.” 

Green further elaborated on her stance, declaring, “I wanted to say what I thought, and I am very happy to have done it.”

On May 19, 2022, she shared a photo of herself with the actor on Instagram, expressing her opinion on the high-profile legal battle he was embroiled in with his former wife Amber Heard. 

In the caption, the actress voiced her belief in Depp’s eventual triumph, asserting, “I have no doubt that Johnny will emerge with his good name and wonderful heart revealed to the world, and life will be better than it has ever been for him and his family.”

Additionally, she spoke to Vanity Fair on March 29, 2023, reaffirming her support for the actor. Addressing the reasons behind her decision to publicly stand by Depp, Green explained, “It was boiling over too much and for too long. Everyone was afraid of getting wet. He is a kind and pure actor, as anyone can confirm who worked with him.” 

Despite the support from Green, not everyone shares the same sentiment, as evidenced by a fan’s comment.

A fan commented, “Me, rewriting this headline for myself: Very happy to not support or see Eva Green in anything; I stay away from vile people I dislike.”

Nonetheless, Depp and Heard reached an agreement by the end of 2022. On June 1, the jury unanimously found that Heard defamed Depp, awarding him $5 million in punitive damages and $10 million in compensatory damages.

The jury also awarded Heard $2 million in compensatory damages in her counterclaim but nothing in punitive damages.

However, in December 2023, the former couple came to an arrangement, with Heard giving the Pirates of the Caribbean star $1 million.

Green and Depp’s romantic rumors spread after the two collaborated in the 2012 film Dark Shadows, directed by Tim Burton.

Despite Depp being married to Vanessa Paradis at the time, the undeniable chemistry exhibited on screen sparked speculation.

The intensity of their on-screen chemistry appeared to go beyond the confines of the cinematic world, igniting rumors of a romance between the co-stars.

However, Green swiftly refuted the romance rumors during an interview with GQ, via News24Viral, in 2012, dismissing the romantic link as utterly absurd. 

The actress addressed the rumors with a touch of humor, stating, “It was ridiculous. These people must be bored. My boyfriend laughed. It was funny.” 

Green not only set the record straight by denying any romantic involvement with Depp but also seized the opportunity to reveal that her heart was already claimed by another.
