Former Bachelor in Paradise contestant Danielle Maltby and her boyfriend, Michael Allio, are planning to freeze their eggs.
In a recent Instagram post on April 7, 2023, Maltby shared that she and her best friend Jackie are working with Freeze by CO and Cofertility to freeze their eggs and create an informative series on the process through their podcast, The Womed.
She started her post by discussing the decline of egg counts in people assigned female at birth as they age and the increased risk for infertility and pregnancy health concerns.
She wrote, “Did you know, that for people assigned female at birth, our egg counts start dropping drastically in our 30s and we have an increased risk for infertility and pregnancy health concerns as we age?”
She also talked about her personal situation where she is almost 37 and has focused on herself, building her career, and healing from traumatic events.
“What happens if you’re like me? You’re almost 37, other relationships haven’t worked out, you’ve focused on yourself, building your career and healing from traumatic events,” Maltby noted. “Suddenly you get called out of reality tv retirement! You’re filled with hope and lord help me- you actually meet the love of your life.”
“Fast forward a couple months. Now you actually are 37. You’re a nurse, you know the stats and that those don’t necessarily apply to everyone but your mom went through menopause at… wait for it- 37,” she continued.
She also mentioned how she recently met the love of her life, Allio, who has a child, and they wanted to experience other things together before having a child of their own. Thus, they were going for egg freezing.
“We both have experienced life-changing loss, and that can make your views and timeline shift. It’s not fair that as women age, we have more pressure for the reproductive timeline- but that’s just facts. So egg freezing it is!” Maltby noted.
“We were specifically drawn to Cofertility for their emphasis on egg freezing not being a luxury and making it more accessible through their Split program, you can even freeze your eggs for free when you donate half to intended parents who can’t otherwise conceive!” Maltby added.
She also wrote that they wanted to break down the science of the process and create a resource space for anyone thinking about egg freezing. And at the end, she requested her fans to follow along with her podcast.
Michael Allio is also a parent to his son
Allio, a 39-year-old native of Ohio, is the former contestant on season 17 of The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise.
After losing his wife, Laura Ritter-Allio, to breast cancer in 2019, he began raising his son James, born in 2016, as a single father. Allio and Laura had tied the knot in 2012, four years before James’s birth.

He had opened up about his life as a single parent and how he balanced his responsibilities as a dad with his desire to find love. He revealed he was allowed to FaceTime James daily while filming The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise in New Mexico.
As reported by Us Weekly, Allio considered his late wife to be James’s “magnificent angel” and regularly paid tribute to her on social media. He acknowledged that it was an easy decision as a parent, but it was not something he wanted to do.
He explained that balancing his time as a single parent with pursuing happiness and finding love was challenging. Despite the challenges of being a single parent, Allio believed that kids are resilient.

Maltby and Allio met on week two of Bachelor in Paradise season 8 and went on a one-on-one date after encouragement from co-star Katie Adams, and since their first date, they had special moments. Later, the pair attended Adams’ wedding to Sarah Hyland as a couple.
On November 4, 2022, Maltby revealed during the BiP reunion that she was moving to Ohio to be closer to Allio and his son. Allio told Maltby that he loved her, and she was surprised by his confession. However, she clarified that she won’t be living with them.
The couple completed their six months anniversary on November 23, 2022, and commemorated the occasion by sharing their moments on an Instagram reel with their followers.
