American actress Cara Buono took to her Instagram handle to share a heartfelt tribute following the death of her mother, Rosemary Buono, on December 5, 2023.
Accompanied by a series of cherished photographs with her mother, she poured her heart into words, beginning by revealing the difficulty of articulating the emotions surrounding her mother’s death, describing her as the “epitome of kind.”
She also highlighted her mother’s remarkable ability to connect with people, finding the good in everyone she encountered, writing, “She would talk to everyone and found the good in everyone.”
Cara also expressed her mother would extend warmth through cooking, preparing large Italian meals for friends and strangers alike. She recounted her mother’s habit of sharing household items with visitors and friends.
Despite facing financial constraints, the actress outlined that her parents “were incredibly generous,” and mentioned her mother was beautiful in every way.

She wrote, “If you told her you liked something in our house, she gave it to you. If you didn’t accept it, she mailed it to you. After she got to know you, she would continue to send you little gifts that made her think of you. She (and my dad) were incredibly generous even though we didn’t have much.”
Moreover, she encouraged the acknowledgment and expression of a range of emotions, emphasizing the unpredictability of grief and the importance of self-compassion and patience during the healing process.
Referencing a quote that read, “I promise you, there is something worse out there than being sad – and that is being alone and sad,” from the popular TV show Ted Lasso, Cara conveyed a powerful message asserting that the experience of being together in sadness outweighs the loneliness of solitary grief.
