LA-based global music platform, Gemtracks, currently known for their beat marketplace that has been used by multiple celebrities and indie artists, is having an upgrade to let sellers sell producer loops and samples too via a subscription-based model.

About Gemtracks

Gemtracks was founded in 2017 by DJ Jesse Neo and Milana Leybovich after having worked for several music companies and labels, including Disney, FOX, and Spinnin’ Records. Seeing the uptick in independent artists and the ease of getting music onto streaming platforms, Gemtracks was created.

Besides being a paid platform, all users have access to free music downloads, as well as a database where one can find songs based on topics out of the millions of songs released worldwide.

As Gemtracks slowly dipped its toes into the social networking side as well, users can follow, message, and collaborate with other members on new songs.

Since its release, Gemtracks has been mentioned in several international publications, including Business Insider, Variety, HuffPost, The Jerusalem Post, and The Daily Caller.

Changing Target Audience

Gemtracks has been gradually shifting its target audience to producers in need of exclusive audio files and assets that can still give their songs that original fling, without sounding too similar to other countless tracks that have used the identical royalty-free tracks downloaded on several free websites.

Insiders to the website discovered that sellers can now upload packs of downloadable audio loops onto their profiles, which are commonly found in all pop songs. This is in addition to the new feature added a few months ago where sellers can charge subscribers to download exclusive content such as personalized instrumentals and lyrics.

Sellers can expect to earn up to $200 per subscriber. With enough interests, sales from selling subscription-based audio files can easily outgrow and be more profitable than selling audio packs as individual sales. Payments are paid out 14 days after the sales date.

“Due to changes in the market, we discovered a lot of our customers are actually bedroom music producers,” a representative from Gemtracks told us via email. “This is in deep contrast with our original customers who were mainly artists looking for original backing tracks to sing to in their songs.”

“To put it in simple terms, we want to provide exclusive and limited-edition loops and samples, as well as beats, that producers and singers can use in their songs,” the representative continued.

The Future of Gemtracks

In a press released by the music company, Gemtracks stated they will continue building its community to support indie singers and producers. As well as that, Gemtracks also has a vision to allow all musicians to become entrepreneurs and help get their music out there.

This can either be through offering a service to promote and pitch songs to playlists, or offering the tools to sell and market songs on personal websites and social media channels.

In the meantime, Gemtracks is getting more than 1 million visitors each month with more than 20,000 members already registered, from around the world.
