The television personality then made a playful remark, saying, “And it will always happen, Taylor. This is your lot in life,” and ultimately returned the award, stating, “I’m not going to be this person.”

After the show, it was revealed that this interaction was meant to be humorous and was pre-arranged between the two. However, the interaction between the stars at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards appeared to confuse the audience with Swift’s uncertain responses and a silent crowd.

One social media user started a Reddit thread regarding the Munn and Swift conversation in the 2013 People’s Choice Awards. The thread’s topic read, “Olivia Munn tries to parody the Kanye West incident with Taylor Swift but is just really, really awkward.”

After the Reddit thread gained attention, fans of Munn and Swift expressed their opinions about their relationship. One fan commented, “I don’t think she was trying to parody the Kanye West incident.”

Someone added, “Before Taylor Swift was announced the winner, Olivia Munn joked that Taylor wrote the song ‘We Are Never Getting Back Together’ (or whatever the title is) about her. So when Taylor got on stage to accept the award, Olivia went on acting as if it was awkward because, ya know, they broke up and whatnot. It was lame though.”

After much speculation about the singer and the television personality’s relationship, Munn reassures fans that there is no bad blood between them.

During an interview with E! Online, Munn openly discussed the joke, stating, “It was a whole bit that we planned and it was supposed to be funny. Somebody said to me the other night ‘Did you want to take her award?’ and I [was like], ‘I didn’t want to take her award’.”

Are Olivia Munn and Taylor Swift friends? 

Apart from the brief interaction at the People’s Choice Awards, there has been no known connection between Munn and Swift. It’s also unclear whether the joke genuinely hurt Swift.

The singer has never written a song that belittles Munn or any other woman. In fact, her music often celebrates feminist themes and empowers women, reflecting her commitment to gender equality and promoting messages of strength and resilience.
