The Bachelor contestant Lexi Young has recently opened up about her battle with endometriosis and her surgical experience to her fans and followers.
On February 6, 2023, Young courageously shared her personal experience with endometriosis on Instagram. She revealed that her battle with the condition began in her youth, marked by excruciatingly painful menstrual cycles.
As she progressed through high school and college, the intensity of her pelvic and lower back pain intensified despite medical interventions such as prescription medications and early adoption of birth control pills.
Unfortunately, none of these measures alleviated her distressing symptoms. Subsequently, upon completing college, she relocated to San Francisco, where her symptoms were exacerbated significantly.
The severity reached a point where she would frequently faint at work due to the excruciating pain, rendering her unable to perform her job tasks while seated at a desk.
The reality TV star then found herself attending multiple doctor’s appointments each week in a desperate attempt to comprehend the perplexing changes occurring within her body. She later learned that she had been diagnosed with conditions she had never previously experienced.
Shockingly, medical professionals attributed her excruciating pain to psychological factors, suggesting it was rooted in anxiety and depression and recommending she seek psychiatric help.
These dismissive diagnoses caused Young to internalize doubts about the legitimacy of her pain, leading her to question its reality. Eventually, her symptoms became unbearable, leaving her doubled over in agony and incapable of leading a normal life.
Young made the difficult decision to relocate to New York City, seeking support from her family, but she found herself confronted with a worsening of her symptoms. Recalling that time, she expressed, “When I moved to New York, my symptoms got 100x worse.”
The television star recounted being rushed to the emergency room multiple times while working at the GAP headquarters in New York, experiencing significant blood loss and severe abdominal distention.
She vividly described feeling as though she looked four to five months pregnant and likened the sensation to “barbed wire surrounding my pelvis.”
Fortunately, her health condition improved, and her condition took a positive turn when she finally encountered a doctor at New York University. Reflecting on this pivotal moment, she stated, “This surgeon truly changed my life, and I am so grateful.”
Young stated that the doctor listened to her concerns and validated the legitimacy of her pain, suspecting endometriosis despite the challenges of diagnosing it without invasive procedures.
Recognizing the limitations of diagnostic tools like MRI or X-rays, Young ultimately underwent laparoscopic surgery. During this procedure, her doctor successfully removed the endometriosis at its source.

Upon receiving the diagnosis of stage IV deep infiltrating endometriosis, which had spread throughout her pelvic cavity and affected other organs, Young finally felt vindicated after enduring over a decade of suffering and dismissal by previous medical professionals.
Despite finding relief in finally having answers, Young also faced the sobering truth of potential infertility due to endometriosis. Tearfully, she shared, “I’ve always wanted to be a mother, and endometriosis carries the risk of infertility.”
However, this isn’t the first time Young has opened up about her struggles with endometriosis. While appearing on The Bachelor season 28, she courageously shared her concerns about the possibility of being unable to have children, which left her feeling self-conscious about dating.
She also disclosed that almost two weeks before heading to the airport to meet Joey at the Bachelor Mansion, she underwent surgery to freeze her eggs.
This decision underscores the fact that the television personality isn’t leaving her fertility to chance; instead, she’s taking proactive steps to ensure that motherhood remains a possibility for her in the future.
Moreover, by openly discussing her battle with endometriosis on the reality show, Young aimed to illuminate the seasons of darkness that this illness can bring. Her goal was to spread awareness for those suffering from endometriosis and other chronic illnesses.
