Helen Mirren is still one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses despite her age — she is 77 years of age as of this writing. Mirren is set to star in multiple upcoming movies, and all of those films are very much anticipated by the audience.
Her much-anticipated upcoming movies are Shazam! Fury of the Gods, aka Shazam! 2 (releasing on March 17, 2023), Fast X (releasing on May 19, 2023), Barbie (expected to release on July 21, 2023), and White Bird: A Wonder Story (scheduled to release on August 25, 2023).
With so many big movies lined up, people have begun to make queries about her and are eager to learn more about her. One of the things that fans have been searching for is her association with another renowned actress; Stranger Things star Sadie Sink.
Many might already know that Mirren portrayed the role of Queen Elizabeth II in the West End and Broadway production of The Audience. But it might not be familiar to many that Sink was also involved in the same production, the one done by Broadway in 2015.
In the Broadway production, Sink played the younger version of Queen Elizabeth II or Young Elizabeth and shared the role with another fellow young actress, Elizabeth Teeter. At the time, both Sink and Teeter were 13-year-olds.
Sadie Sink counts her red carpet look with Helen Mirren as the worst
While Mirren, Sink, and Teeter worked together in the Broadway production, they attended multiple red-carpet events. Most of the time, Mirren would always walk alone on the red carpet, but there was one instance where she insisted Sink and Teeter were alongside her.
However, that one instance turned out to be when Sink had her worst red carpet look. That’s right! During one of her podcast interviews, Sink talked about many things, including her first and worst red carpet-looks.
Speaking about her first red carpet look, she mentioned it was during the season 2 premiere of Netflix’s Stranger Things. “And I was 15, and it was this Chanel black and white little mini-dress. It was a good first red carpet,” she stated.

After that, she talked about her worst red carpet look. She said, “Worst red carpet look? Actually, I remember. It was the Tony Awards for the play I did with Helen Mirren. We weren’t supposed to go, but we went.”
She continued, “And Helen really wanted me and Elizabeth Teeter – who I shared the role with – she [Helen] really wanted us to go on the red carpet with her, was negotiating with the security guard to get us to go on the red carpet and take photos with her.”
Sink then details what she was wearing by saying, “I just remember, I was wearing that like I think was like a gap hand me down or something. And all of a sudden, I was, like, being ushered onto my very first red carpet with Dame Helen Mirren.”

In the end, she mentioned that those pictures with Mirren and Teeter would live online forever.
Sadie Sink didn’t get nervous working with Helen Mirren
Mirren always brought perfection in all the roles she played, and Sink and Teeter also outdid themselves by winning the audience’s hearts with their performances. And they were happy to talk a bit more about their experience during their interview with Broadway.
During Sink and Teeter’s joint interview with Broadway in April 2015, the young actresses were asked some questions about the production. When asked if they knew anything about British history before being a part of the play, both said no.
As the end of the interview approached, the interviewer asked the two young actresses about their experience working with Mirren and if it was scary while being on stage with her. To the question, Sink first replied, “Our first rehearsal with her, I was like, ‘OK, I gotta get this right!’”
As Sink continued, she said it wasn’t scary after that, as Mirren is such a nice person, and she didn’t get nervous around her. “The first day of rehearsal, she came right up and introduced herself,” Teeter joined the conversation.
Sink completed Teeter’s sentence by stating, “Yeah, we were the first people she talked to,” with Teeter adding, “I’m always worried when I meet someone famous that they’re not gonna be nice, but she’s even more inspiring when you meet her.”
Furthermore, the interviewer also asked if Mirren used to mess up her lines during the rehearsal. “Yes!” Sink replied. Teeter then laughingly mentioned that British people like to swear.
