Sean appeared in the 2013 action thriller The Covenant. Later that year, he made his American television debut in Season 6 of the BET comedy-drama series Sistas but was replaced by Devin Way in Season 7. 

From 2016 until 2020, he played a key part in the BBC One military drama Our Girl. He also appeared in the 2019 musical film Blue Story and a minor role in the crime drama The Gentlemen. 

From 2021 to 2022, he played a recurring part in the Netflix drama series Fate: The Winx Saga. In 2023, Sean began appearing in the Paramount+ series NCIS: Sydney. In 2024, he appeared in Tyler Perry’s erotic thriller film Mea Culpa with his brother Nick.

Nick played the role of District Attorney Ray Hawthorne alongside his brother Sean, who played the role of Kal Hawthorne. The cast also includes Kelly Rowland, Trevante Rhodes, RonReaco Lee, Shannon Thornton, and Angela Robinson.

The 2024 American legal thriller film, written and directed by Tyler Perry, revolves around Mea Harper, a criminal defense attorney, who takes on the case of an artist, Zyair Malloy, accused of murdering his girlfriend. 

Harper is facing marital issues with her husband Kal Hawthorne. Their problems escalate when Harper catches Kal holding hands with another woman, a childhood friend favored by his mother. 

Kal had previously lost his job as an anesthesiologist eight months ago due to being under the influence of drugs and alcohol while on duty. Harper decides to represent the artist Malloy, charged with killing his girlfriend, despite being prosecuted by District Attorney Ray Hawthorne, Kal’s brother. 

As Harper delves deeper into Malloy’s case, he begins to manipulate her, leading to a complex dynamic between them. She finds herself increasingly drawn to Malloy, blurring the lines between personal and professional boundaries.

As the story unfolds, unexpected twists emerge, adding layers of intrigue to the narrative. Mea Culpa was released on Netflix on February 23, 2024.

Nick Sagar’s career

Nick made his debut on British television in 2009 before moving to Los Angeles and featuring in an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles. He made his movie debut in the 2012 criminal drama thriller Ill Manors.

In 2017, Nick was cast as Detective Alonzo Loya in the USA Network murder thriller Queen of the South. He quit the series after two seasons. 

In 2107, he also appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Network prime time serial series The Haves and the Have Nots as Charles Frederickson, Candace Young’s (Tika Sumpter) new love interest. He was a regular cast member from seasons 4 to 7, returning on a recurring basis for the show’s eighth and final season.

He also had a recurring role in Shadowhunters’ second season and appeared in two episodes of Supergirl. Nick appeared in Netflix’s romantic comedy film The Princess Switch in 2018 with Vanessa Hudgens.

He reprised his role in the sequels The Princess Switch: Switched Again (2020) and The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star (2021). Nick appeared in the Starz comedy series Run the World on a recurrent basis from 2021 to 2023. 

In 2024, he featured in Mea Culpa as District Attorney Ray Hawthorne, alongside his brother Sean.
